I'm aiming for another £280 before payday!! I've got the money sat in my holding account. So as long as nothing goes wrong between now and payday that should be another good chunk!
That would be awesome! :T:T:T:T
I admit I didn't think the £10 a day challenge would be as hard as it is - its not as easy as it sounds and you get behind so very quickly. Glad I am back on track and heading down the final stretch but boy has it kicked my tushie! I think we both doing remarkably well!
50 metres of ironing. Yeah. I'm with you. Full sympathy. When I got married to first hubby he told me he would show me how to iron his uniforms correctly so that I could do it for him.....to include the use of starch. I watched him do one arm and told him to kiss my @rse. As far as I was concerned that was part of his job and his job was none of my business!! My mother would often bug me about it and I would look her straight in the face and say, "You know I don't believe in ironing Mother!".. Mighty impressed you got through that lot, wegle. Serious eBay and September challenge dedication there!

Haha! Hubby is ex army and is always saying my ironing is rubbish, that's when he got told if he wanted something ironing he could bloody well do it himself!! I think it's just so drummed into them though that it's hard to let things slack. Thankfully he's been out for 4 years now and well on his way to becoming a regular slobby member of society!!!0

Lol! Oh don't get me wrong, the only thing my ex kept straight was his uniform - had to keep the perception of perfection going for his career. At home? Utter slob. Disgusting. His house now makes me sick because he doesn't bother cleaning it. I walked out in May 2010.....he has not washed the windows since. And let's not get into the inside. Suffice to say, it's always a reminder to me that I did the right thing in leaving!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0

Haha! I can't talk, I'm rubbish at housework! I hate it! I Hoover a lot because we have a dog and the pots and bathroom are always done but things like windows and mopping I'm awful at that!
Hubby and I have blue and pink jobs. He does the blue jobs and I do the pink jobs. Typical blue jobs are: anything to do with the car, mowing the lawn, changing lightbulbs, washing windows! Pink jobs are: grocery shopping, sorting recycling, laundry, hoovering, writing Christmas cards, etc etc. works quite well for us. But seriously if I could afford a cleaner or a housework robot I'd totally have one!0 -
Still better than me! First marriage = any job in the house was mine, to include mowing grass, laying tile, fitting archways in doorways.....you name it. My now hubby is fantastic and does lots to help without even asking. Does this mean I wouldn't hire a cleaner if I could afford one?! Hell no! I'd be all over that, along with a PA, a chef, and a hitman....!
Oops did I type that last one out loud....:DCredit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
I'm having such a lovely evening. Just curled up in bed now with my little hound perched on hubby's pillow resting his head on my shoulder. We've got Johnny Cash playing in the background and spending time reading people's inspirational diaries on here.
Hubster is round his friends house doing boy stuff so it's been all peaceful and lovely. Hound is helping me to stay warm too as its gone absolutely freezing!!
I really need to make more of an effort to spend time listening to music. When I was a student all my money went on records and musical instruments. Over the years I've just not spent as much time focusing on it but nights like tonight when I spend all evening listening to beautiful music reminds me of how much I love it. My poor ukulele is feeling neglected and dusty as well, I need to make more time for music practice.
Another thing I'm going to aim for when I'm debt free is moving into a bigger house so that we can have a piano. I really miss playing and a keyboard just isn't the same. I'd also love my children to grow up with a piano.0 -
Well yesterday was a NSD! :j Whoopy whoop! This puts me at 9/10. Only one more to go to hit target!!
Sadly today is already not a NSD. I had to post a bday card to my step daughter which I also put £10 in. So that was £10.60 and then I had to buy the dreaded ciggies. Went to a different shop to the one I usually get them and they were a whole £1 more expensive!!! :wall::wall::wall: I do need to kick this habit. Hubby decided to stop a couple of days ago and is doing well, I just know I don't really want to at the moment and I know I won't be successful unless I really want it. Grrrr!! So £17.36 on ciggies but hoping that will last me until at least Wednesday next week.
No other news really. Been going through Martin’s money makeover guide to check there’s nothing obvious I’m missing but I’m already pretty good on making sure we’re on best deals etc. Our fixed price energy deal ends on 31 October so I’m already starting to research where we will be going next. M&S Energy is looking pretty good at the moment, but I’ll check again in a couple of weeks, just in case there’s any new cashback deals.
I have £45 to last me until payday, which is in 12 days. Only spends I can think of are Friday chips for the next 2 weeks £9.60, possibly one more lot of ciggies £16, and my £5 for college next Tuesday. So total of £30.60. Hubby will start his night shifts from tomorrow so there will be no need for me to spend any more money as I can just hold up at home catching up on some reading and cracking on with eBaying the contents of the spare room!!
If I’m really disciplined and manage my money I should be able to manage another 9 NSDs before payday.
I’m trying to get my SOA completely tied up. I’m not going to post it again as this thread will just get chock block full of changing SOAs so I’ll just put the bottom line, as it will help me to remember where I need to put money each month.
Income - £1400
Shared Expenses - £785
Personal Expenses - £273.04
Amount available for debt repayment - £341.96
Loan payment comes out of my bank on 1st of each month so need to leave £44.63 in there. The remaining £341.96 - £44.63 = £297.33 will be moved into the holding account until just before payday (which also coincides with CC min pay day) at which point it will be paid to the CC. A portion will be put aside to put towards the OD.
So each payday:
*Move £785 to joint account
*Move £297.33 to holding account
I’ve also calculated the total cost of my debt including interest payments over 10 months which comes to £4669.94. This means my % paid has dropped a little again, but only to 5.51%. At least this is now totally accurate!! I’ll update the sig when I get a chance.0 -
You know what I think ou can clear that before Sept 14
you are doing really well and you're really focused.
With regard to smoking I agree you can only stop if you are in the right frame of mind. I stopped over 6 years ago and could only do it because of my mindset. In the meantime have you considered smoking rollies? A lot cheaper....Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Hey Mrs GSR. I already smoke rollies. Have for years. I definitely couldn't bring myself to pay the price of a pack of 20 nowadays! I think it's around £6!!!!
Really hoping it can all be cleared before September but don't want to set myself too tight a goal because I'll only get upset if it all goes off plan a bit. Secretly in the back of my mind though I'd like it paid off before we go to the Grand Prix in July so then I can spend my usual debt money there having a good time!!!0
