    Wow! Amazing post, you are very similar to me!

    Thanks hun. I think it's so easy to fall into the trap once you start. Hopefully we have both caught it in time though and won't be going down that road again! :j

    Damn proud of you, wegle. Would give you a huge hug if you were here so sending one to you in cyber space instead. I read the whole thing and it all makes such perfect sense. It's so easy to fall into the trap when the banks are happy to throw credit at you knowing they are roping you into paying them handsomely for a very long time. Well done, wegle. x

    Thanks for the cyber hug! When I think back some of the advice I received over the years from bank staff is appaling! I remember going in to set up a savings account once because I had received a pay rise and all the woman kept banging on about was how I should take out a credit card to buy my petrol on! :eek: Sorry surely that's the polar opposite of what I've asked you to do for me! I stormed out of there in the end and never set up that savings account.

    So true! Like you I never had credit cards at college and only had student loan to pay. I was advised to take out a credit card to improve my credit rating. Worst thing ever!

    You're so right. All that really matters is the people you love are there and you and your husband are there, everything else is just decoration. I hated reading all the wedding magazines as you got the impression that you HAD to have all these different things and if you weren't spending £25K on your wedding it would be rubbish. I ended up selling them all on eBay for £1 each!! :beer:

    Looking back now there are so many people I wish had not been there as I no longer speak to them and they havent been very good friends since still thats a whole other story.
    I used to be a moderator on a wedding forum and I got their magazine free as payment and it was a good magazine but yes I agree you get the feeling you have to spend spend spend to make it the best day. One of the forum girls spent that on her wedding, divorced a year later.

    Wegle you should read a book called 'Beat the Banks' - you'll never look at them the same. Absolutely disgusting. I have no respect for their methods and just ignore the staff for the most part. I walk on their now, smile, nod, decline if necessary and leave!

    I definitely try and spend as little time as possible in banks now! Internet banking is a god send! I'll have a look for that book on Amazon and add it to my wishlist.

    I've updated my 100% challenge now. Since including the overdraft debt I'm down to 3.65% paid. :( However good news is I'm on track to stay within my spending this month and have £285.08 tucked away to pay towards my OD and CC at the end of the month. I'll probably round this up to £290 or if I can £300, so that will make a nice dent! :j

    Oh I forgot to tell you all something exciting that happened a couple of days ago. It's not very MSE though! :o We got given a lot of cash for our wedding and we have spent it!! We've booked grandstand tickets for the whole weekend at the British Grand Prix next year and camping at the tracks campsite! :j:j I'm so excited and can't wait. This will be our 1st anniversary present and the plan is from now on to save the money each year so that we can go for our anniversary every year! This also means I now know what I'm going to buy hubby for xmas. Going to get him all kitted out with Mercedes merchandise so we can look like a right pair of fanboys in the stands! :rotfl:

    Just had a lovely message from the hubby. Looks like there might be some 12 hour night shifts going at his work. This will be great overtime for him and he says he's going to take them as he wants to help pay off my debt. I told him not to be silly and any extra he earns is for him, but he says he insists. He such a sweetheart and always thinking of ways to make me happy.

    This isn't changing any of my plans though and I'm still sticking with my current figures, just hopefully means things might be paid off a couple of months quicker!!

    Just doing a lunchtime check in!

    Reached another threshold on one of my survey sites, £10 on its way to my paypal in the next 10-30 days! Seriously though, why so long, surely it's just a case of pressing a button!!

    Hubby is starting night shifts from Wednesday next week up until the end of the following week. It's gonna be lonely and quiet in the house but at least I'll have the hound to keep me company and I can watch some girly films!!:D

    Yesterday was a NSD and hoping for one today as well. I've got £90.22 left in the bank. I had to spend £9.78 on packaging materials for eBay sales which is a !!!!!! but I got a really good deal and it should last for ages!

    Known spends that I have coming out are as follows:

    My Account

    Balance: 90.22
    Outgoings:
    * 2 x birthday cards & postage £4.20
    * Money to go in one of birthday cards £20
    * Friday night chips £14.40
    * Ciggies £34
    * College £5
    Left with: £12.62

    Joint Account

    Balance: £137.21
    Outgoings:
    * Phone Bill £23.26
    * Petrol £50
    * Netflix £4.99
    * Dog food £9.72
    Left with: £58.96
    This is good because I need to get some baking supplies which should come to around £18 (hopefully I can get it a bit cheaper) and we need to leave £26 in the account as we went unexpectedly overdrawn last month so have £26 charges to pay next month. :mad: Managed to get 30% off the dog food though by using a couple of online vouchers I had. Bonus!

    So it's gonna feel tight but I reckon I can do it. Going for a NSD today as well. Can't forsee any reason why it won't be and we're already over half way through it! :rotfl:

    You are doing great with the surveys, wegle. I must take some inspiration from you and get on it. To be fair I have done some this week but it feels like such slow going to hit that cash out limit. I'll see if I can turn some around over the weekend. :)

    Best of luck keeping inside that tight margin - I know you can do it! It's amazing what can be achieved when we put our minds to it! :)
