  • So a reasonable day I would say and loving this wonderful weather

Was planning and excited about first NSD but had to post an amazon parcel ( which was a DVD I'd sold so money in really!). Then noticed toilet making odd noise so got a plumber in before it became a big problem. In the end he fixed two toilets for £20 so think that was money well spent.

    So My Wednesday summary

    60/250 food
    0/3 to food bank
    105/200 on contingencies
    4/30 AF
    3/21 on home made lunches

Much better on exercise today as did the school run on foot tonight plus two dog walks

    Onward and upward lovely people

He finally stood up and said to me 'ok, time is getting on, do you think you can start the meal now?'
Needless to say nothing had been said about this before, as I assumed I was a guest along with everyone else!!
To say my mouth hit the floor was an understatement!

Just reading this made my mouth hit the floor! That is absolutely disgraceful! It's not the flaming 1950's!!

  • Moneymash -Truly what a day!! You never ever know how you will react in any stress/trauma inducing situation until you are there, and even still it can be different each time. Fight, flight or freeze.

Trying to process such an unusual and dangerous situation is enough to make anyone stop in their tracks. There was already somebody attending to him, so there was not a lot you could do in the moment or even after. You didn't know why the man was on the tracks in the first place and you should always consider your own safety first in such a high-risk situation. Do not feel bad, and well done for being attentive enough to note that he had left the platform via the stairs. I'm sure there must be cctv in or around the station or other travellers who saw him, which might help identify the individual or track his movements from the station.

It sounds like the staff definitely need some high commendation! Hope you are ok!

  • Moneymash - i stood rooted once when, a long time ago i watched my dog get hit by a car - I saw it happening and could have stopped them but like you I was just rooted. Thankfully my dog was just knocked as the car had slowed for us playing on the road so really, although scared, she had no damage done to her.

But I've often thought of it and wondered why i didn't go and grab her or shout to stop the car. Don't try to feel bad about it. It's just good no one got hurt.

Have a nice long bath or some chocolate and just try and relax tonight xxx

Man oh man, what a day. I had to leave work 45 minutes early to go home and sort my mum out. She had an emergency dentist appointment to remove a back tooth that's been non stop infected lately but the extraction didn't go well. The root of the tooth was wrapped onto her bone. It took the dentist a 30 minute struggle to remove it. The whole ordeal has left her in really bad pain, I've never seen her like this before. She begged me to take her to the hospital, I did but apparently they don't do anything about dental pain, they just told her to take normal pain killers and go back to the Dentist tomorrow. So frustrating.

Sorry for the little outburst, just needed to vent a little. I just feel so useless as there's nothing I can do to comfort her :( I just hope it's a bit better in the morning.

Anyway~ Checking in for the day:

    *SFD #3 today
    *brought packed lunch to work
*I'm counting my frantic running around after mum as my exercise for the day. I'm physically and emotionally exhausted!
*Still have not had any energy drinks, even though I really could have done with one this afternoon!

    Budget so far:

    Food: £6/£20
    Petrol: £0/£40
    Other: £0/£100
Paid off my debts, saved up my cash and now I'm finally buying my own home!
  • Hope everyone is well.
    Moneymash - hope you're ok.

Another spend day for me. Updated totals as below:

    Food - £10.75/£100
    Petrol - £0/£70
    Misc - £5.65/£120

Walked to work today - 2 miles. Packed lunch as usual - finished off the frittata that I made for tea last night. Tonight was chilli out of the freezer, and tomorrow's will be something out of the freezer too.

Could really do with a nice chilled glass of rose tonight, but apart from not having any in the house, I am determined to stay off the juice for the rest of the month.

Goodness me Moneymash, that must have been a dreadful thing to witness. Poor man. I remember getting caught in a traffic jam on the motorway on my way home from work a few years ago. The carriageway was choc-a-bloc with cars hardly moving. I was delayed over an hour and a half on what should have been a 30-minute journey. Eventually I got to the next junction and the police were taking the cars off up the sliproad and back down the other sliproad. I looked across and saw a terrified-looking, thin young woman with dark circles round her eyes and a haunted look on her face. She looked right at me and me at her. She was sitting on the wrong side of the bridge with her legs dangling over the side. At that moment, any anger about the traffic delay just evaporated and all I could think of was what terrible situation that young woman had been in that she felt that was her only option. I have never forgotten this, it will stay with me all my life. The feeling that there is no way out. Very sad, there is always a way to deal with things.

Anyway, on to more mundane things. A SFD again. Took lunch to work (tuna today - woohoo!) Rest day today so no exercise but back to the gym again tomorrow. No alcohol today either so a good day.

NSK -glad you didn't give in to the collection. Sometimes people take things a bit far.

This situation is what left us all aghast though:-
My oh's dad now lives alone after losing his wife 3 years ago - as we live away we don't get to see him all that often, so we usually take him out for dinner. On the last visit though, much to our surprise, he rang and said would we like to go for dinner at his house? We were pleased that he had obviously taken time to educate himself in matters of the kitchen, so duly turned up armed with a bottle of wine, at 11am.
All the items were out ready, a bag of potatoes, vegetables ready to prepare, a ready cooked chicken and a chilled apple pie.
The time moved on, and 12 noon came and went. Oh's Dad got increasingly agitated, and keep glaring at me, until 1pm arrived and we were all hungry by now. He finally stood up and said to me 'ok, time is getting on, do you think you can start the meal now?'
Needless to say nothing had been said about this before, as I assumed I was a guest along with everyone else!!

Oh. My. God.

That is ridiculous! Completely unnacceptable behaviour on his part. If it were me he probably wouldn't have been invited to stay again for quite some time.

    What did you do?!

Glad to hear everything is going well with the pregnancy - that's a good £2 spend in my eyes :)

This is INCREDIBLE! Men from a different generation I guess. Did you make the meal?!

Lol, yes oh and I both did the meal we were just so stunned, I thought maybe oh had agreed with his dad I would do it and not told me, oh thought I'd agreed and not told him! Needless to say that never happened. :( Still a talking point for us to this day, how times have changed!

So, in other news I'm up to NSD 3/18!

No alcohol either, but is a weeknight so not too out of the ordinary.

No more spends, just deciding whether I have anything worth fleabaying... part of me just wants rid of the clutter so I'd rather take it to the clothing bank or charity shop, but part of me thinks I should be giving fleabay a go.
