  • Good luck at the interviews ladymay!
  • I have emailed the guy suggesting the collection (note it was not the line manager) and told him due to circumstances I won't be contributing - he was fine with this. Two people have handed her gifts today - one who sits near her??? and someone from her last office.. I feel a little bad as she has provided goodies for the office as does everyone when it's there turn.

She is on my team and part of what I do on a regular basis but hasn't made it subtle that she hated this job from the get go - expecially the line manager who isn't much of a line manager. Que the kiss in lipstick on his birthday card and I am starting to think she isn't all she makes out to be or is a little two facd..... that and some unpredictable huffy moments she is not someone I wish to keep as a "friend"..

    Job done. No more expenditure..

Andrar I know how frustrating and anxiety ridden a house move is never mind having a DMP on top... You have made the right choice in house. Your home life and happiness is most important than being able to see your work place every time you put the bins out...;-)

  • NSK, you did the right thing, I wouldn't have contributed, but I've had my rant about endless work collections in a previous thread.

Why should someone that is leaving and that you are dubious about and don't want to keep as a friend, stop you from hitting your end of year target, I'm glad you didn't give her that power.
    Debt-Free day 30th September 2014
  • Moneymash you are right. I won't feel compelled any more. If they are leaving for good then maybe - but she is only changing offices. Another guy is leaving in November.. a girl we gave leaving gifts too when she went on a sabbatical is back in a month. The mind boggles. She was on the debt saving bandwagon as well at the beginning but is off to buy herself a £350 bag at the weekend... #differentwavelenghs

This would annoy me SO much. Men of a certain age clearly think it's their right to be served by whatever woman is available - my Mum said to me once "when you get married don't do everything for him, make him cook as well"...:rotfl: What would happen if you walked right by him and didn't serve him..?

Lol! Yes that's exactly how I feel! I told my oh that he is not my Dad (mine passed away quite a few years ago) so oh gets the honour of serving him. I do get pointed comments at the dinner table also if every item eg meat pie and dessert are not made from scratch, even though I work full time same as oh. You have to learn to ignore it, or make pointed comments back :o
I think he slated me again after this last visit, as oh's brother was a bit off with me on the phone about the 'stay'. Oh hum, I have grown thick skin!

This situation is what left us all aghast though:-
My oh's dad now lives alone after losing his wife 3 years ago - as we live away we don't get to see him all that often, so we usually take him out for dinner. On the last visit though, much to our surprise, he rang and said would we like to go for dinner at his house? We were pleased that he had obviously taken time to educate himself in matters of the kitchen, so duly turned up armed with a bottle of wine, at 11am.
All the items were out ready, a bag of potatoes, vegetables ready to prepare, a ready cooked chicken and a chilled apple pie.
The time moved on, and 12 noon came and went. Oh's Dad got increasingly agitated, and keep glaring at me, until 1pm arrived and we were all hungry by now. He finally stood up and said to me 'ok, time is getting on, do you think you can start the meal now?'
Needless to say nothing had been said about this before, as I assumed I was a guest along with everyone else!!
To say my mouth hit the floor was an understatement!

Fortunately my hubby is not the same, opposite in fact, I have to tell him to step away from the vacuum, and he is the one who does all the ironing! :rotfl:

I agree about the collection by the way - I usually keep my head down and keep quiet if I don't want to contribute, as my Grandma used to say, 'Least said, soonest mended' lol works for me anyway! :)

NSK - there are advantages to working in a small office ;-)

Well today I am counting as a nsd. Have actually ordered food off Tesco.com nightmare, their prices haven't changed with their latest offers which start today. So I know what I will be paying having worked it out myself just pity the poor delivery driver if it isn't the same. Only did online shopping 17 pounds with a code off first delivery spend over 60 quid. Having 2 tins of tuna, 1 tin hot dogs and peach slices in my food cupboard think I really needed to,

Will add spends tomorrow when know exact amount. Have a good day folks.

Low spend today, £2 for two print outs of a sleeping fetus :), all well, and £1.80 for lunch from the canteen as I forgot mine in the excitement this morning. But all monies came from my shrapnel tin.Tomorrow should be a SFD.

  • Hello all!
I hope you are having better luck than me! Argh!! Grrrr!
I just got back from the mechanics with a quote, it will need a new battery, a timming belt kit all worth £530 :-( and is due for MOT next week as well! It is going to be a very expensive September and I also have to think about my daughter's 13th birthday party due this month!!

Declaring my 3SFD and sitting contemplative on the sofa.

    Sending all positive regards,

    I will succeed !
    No debts 🙌

Low spend today, £2 for two print outs of a sleeping fetus :), all well,

Glad to hear everything is going well with the pregnancy - that's a good £2 spend in my eyes :)
He finally stood up and said to me 'ok, time is getting on, do you think you can start the meal now?'

This is INCREDIBLE! Men from a different generation I guess. Did you make the meal?!
    Job done. No more expenditure..

Well done - I wouldn't have contributed either.

Afternoon all. STILL poorly on the couch but another SFD so that's #4 now. Did go out to pick DS up from nursery yesterday and took a bag with me to collect blackberries on the way home which I had with my porridge this morning - yum!

    So, my update:

    SFD - 4/18 (including today)
    Food budget - £0/£100
    Beauty spends - £0/£10
Food bank - £3/£3 (to Trussell Trust via text)
Packed lunches - 3/13 (on hols for a week, also off sick today but eating my planned packed lunch anyway!)
Holiday spends - £0/£100 (go week of 16th September)
    Fun spends - £0/£100
    Alcohol free days - 4/23

Just deliberating whether I can justify a day out in London in October - an actor I run the website for (Andrew Gower) is in a short film that is premiering there and I'm already in Bristol with DS visiting my folks so they would be able to look after him. £30 on the train though or £11.50 on the coach, and I'm sure I'd be able to watch it online eventually. Hmmm.....

HM curry tonight (lentil dahl and punjabi potatoes with rice and HM naan) - might send it in to A Girl Called Jack actually as once you have the spices it's really cheap!

Won a prize today, I think it's this (got an email asking for my address):

Enter your details below for a chance to win an ultimate Warburtons and Woodland Trust prize bundle!
Prizes include: £5 worth of Warburtons Vouchers, a Warburtons Cool Bag, a Frisbee, a Woodland Trust Nature Detectives annual subscription for one child AND a family ticket to a family attraction near you!

    Really excited if it is!

Got 75p back from my Lend With Care loan today so that's gone straight into savings.

Right, best go and have a wash, have to pick DS up in a couple of hours. Have happy days all xx
