Declaring my sfd today - been in to work even though I'm technically off to print off, fill out, scan and email all the forms for the letting agency. I've paid a deposit too so just desperately hoping they accept me or I'll lose £120 and have nowhere to live
I explained on an extra but of paper all about my DMP, that I can provide a guarantor and proof that I've never missed a rent payment in 10 years, just hope that's enough!
I may crack under the pressure tonight and have to have a gin! Have a good day everyone0 -
Oh, just to add - been asked to go for a carvery lunch in between the playcentre and football club on Friday - would be £7.38 for myself and DS (as I don't think I can get away with feeding him from my plate anymore!). It's a lot of extra money but it would be nice. Hmmmmmm....

O.M.Geeeee,
Hello Strangers!! :j I have returned to the world of Money Saving after a few days of Festival tangent and subsequent recovery. (Truly not as young as I was, so 4 days of 'roughin it' took it out of me!) Had a fabulous time though- Birthday money well spent I say!
Tis been a shock being back at work the last couple of days though!
So I finished August with 16/20 SFD's- which I am jolly pleased with, what with certain unavoidable outgoings- car insurance, m.o.tea and a couple of weddings I remained within all budgets (spiffing!). Speaking of weddings I have another one this Saturday, however I shall be driving- so no expensive drinkies for me, and I am making my wedding gift (Very MSE).
Hope you are all seeing September in with a spring in your step!! I really must catch up with posts and get my DFW cap back on!
Right-o, I am:
Aiming for 18 SFD's
Using up food in cupboards,
£80 Fuel allowance for the month,

Keeping on top of my spending spreadsheet.
Congrats once again NSK for Email feature! Surely you should have at least 3 little shopping trollies under your name by now!
Right- lots of reading for me! Over half-way through the week guys and dolls! :T:coffee:

Declaring SFD number 2 and AFD 4. I really wanted the bucks fizz in the cupboard last night but fought against it. I managed another 1 hour walk with DD collecting my catalogues and I managed 1 order on my first drop so I've technically made money today :T
I will need to spend tomorrow but only for some squash and more fruit. I'm eating a lot more fruit now I'm trying to loose weight again. Off for a well earned brew
P.S. congrats NSK on saying no. I wouldn't be able to but DH is a tight a@se with things like that so he would normally persuade me.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
I didn't heed my own advice and gawked.
So yesterday I went to do my washing, it was hot and I was tired having worked the two previous nights so at great expense I got the bus to the train station, then got the train. I know it sounds a long way but it works out about 5 minutes on the bus, 6 minutes on the train and a 2 minute walk. Usually when my wash is on I nip to Tesco, so snaffle any special offers. I did a shop costing £10.53, however I completely forgot about my pledge to buy only value items doh! Old habits die hard and as far as special offers, discounts are concerned I am a heat-seeking missile.
I went back to the launderette and put my clothes in the dryer, however the attendant forgot to take my money for the drying. She was busy laughing and joking with a male customer. I had some change but wanted to keep it for the bus fare home, so I kept a £5 note in my hand ready for when she asked me but never did. I sat there for 30 minutes waiting for my clothes to dry, then folded them slowly in to my bag, but she never asked and I didn't offer.
I head back to the train station and see that my train was slightly delayed and if I hurry I can make it, and not have to wait for the next one. So I make it over the bridge to my platform, I see the train approaching and then it just stops, just short of the very long platform. The driver opens the window and shouts to a man to get back on the platform! There is a man on the tracks! I couldn't believe it, from where I was on the platform I could see the man, only he didn't go back the way he came he walked further on to the tracks. I immediately thought, there are live tracks and he will be electrocuted. The driver got out of his cab and went towards the man, some of my view was obscured by some bushes at the end of the platform I was on. However, I could clearly see the high speed train approaching and thought both the man and the driver were going to get hit by the train. I was rooted to the spot and just managed to turn away.
When my sister was a teenager, she heard a car crash, she didn't see it happen just heard it. People went to help, as my sister didn't know what to do, she carried on to where she was going but had to go past the scene. My sister told me she saw an old woman on the road, a few days later it was reported in the news that the woman had died in hospital which really upset my sister. That struck a cord with me as she hadn't witnessed the accident and didn't know the woman. So all I could do for myself was turn away and scrunch up my shoulders in anticipation of the crash. The high speed train hurtled past. I turned back the driver and the man were getting up on to the platform unscathed. The driver got back in his cab, and shouted to the man to wait by the stairs. The driver then pulled the train into the station alongside the platform I was on.
The man was walking very fast down the platform and I thought about calling him a idiot who wants to get killed when he walked past me, but I didn't. The driver shouted at the man to wait but he didn't, he went up the steps to the bridge. I didn't see which way he went I just told the driver and ticket collector that he went up the stairs.
So now I am on the train, and the train staff are looking for the man. A passenger asked me what happened and I told him, all he could moan about was that future trains from London would be delayed. I have to say that at that point I stopped talking to the passenger, I was more concerned that the man put his life, and the driver's life in jeopardy and the poor people on the drivers train, and the train driver of the high speed train would have witnessed a death.
It was announced over the tannoy that the man had been trying to commit suicide the ticket collector could hardly get her words out, it was very distressing. I thought the man was just being an idiot, I thought perhaps, he'd been looking for scrap or foraging, suicide didn't occur to me. I know you can be fined for being on the tracks, but if he was suicidal he needs help, I just wish I had bothered to look up the stairs to see which way he actually went.
Anyhow, I will be emailing the train company to commend the drivers actions, what a day.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
