  • Received cheque today for £232.79 after tax. But the cheque is made out to "policyholder only" and not my name. Is this correct or am I going to have to return the cheque to be altered?

Anyone who took out a Virgin CC (now MBNA) and has had a form recently saying they might be entitled, it's well worth filling out. I wasn't sure if I was entitled as I applied online for my card but filled in the paperwork last year. Just before Christmas I had a letter saying they had declined it. I just shrugged thinking I wasn't entitled anyway.

Then just last month I got a letter through saying they were reviewing claims and would I please call them. So I did and lo and behold I got a letter yesterday saying they are upholding my claim and I'm going to get £1577! Staggered.

So even if you don't think you're entitled, fill out the forms anyway. You never know! :D

I received my cheques in the last few days but my question is this. Can I claim additional interest that I paid as the cost was always taken via my credit card account with no other option. I was a minimum repayment customer as well so I am probably more out of pocket than the 8% covers.

As I've already said, this thread is for discussion of CPP complaints, not alternative insurance policies.
Start a separate thread if you want to discuss this, there is a whole sub-forum devoted to insurance money saving

Thanks for suggestion which I have now taken up, after successful reclaim. Perhaps others will follow me.

Do you know that for a fact or are you just guessing?
    I don't "guess".
I'm sure CPP will be very happy for you to return as a customer, but you'll have to supply them with the details of the cards you want to "protect" because you've already effectively told them you don't need the insurance.

I'm certain plenty of people will want to re-insure after being refunded.

Any pointers to the 'loads' of successful HSBC CPP claims?

What do you want? A list of addresses of successful complainants?

As I said, HSBC is no better (and no worse) than most other banks with regard to paying redress for mis-sold insurance. If you have a legitimate complaint that has been rejected refer it to the Ombudsman, but don't complain simply because the insurance was sold by HSBC.

All I want know is how you seem to know that loads of HSBC CPP complaints have been upheld yet all the discussion on this forum appears to suggest otherwise. Is that too much to ask?

HSBC is no better (and no worse) than most other banks with regard to paying redress for mis-sold insurance. If you have a legitimate complaint that has been rejected refer it to the Ombudsman, but you won't gain anything by simply complaining that the insurance was sold by HSBC.
