I can't remember having CPP but I filled in the form anyway, I thought maybe I'd paid £10 once and then cancelled so wasn't expecting anything much.
Got a cheque this weekend for £92, which appears to relate to two policies :-)

I filled in my form thinking I wouldn't be getting very much if anything, as I am sure most of mine was before 2005. But no a cheque has arrived today for £433.19. I was completely shocked. Even thought I wouldn't bother filling in the form as honestly thought I wouldn't get anything.
So am very happy. :j0 -
My elderly mother received a CCP cheque today which states that 20% tax was deducted. She is not a tax payer anyway, but has anyone else had this? Who does the tax go to and on what justification? The accompanying letter says 5 days to accept or lose it so she's under pressure to decide what to do.
Edit, just found article explaining the 20% on interest part.

Think my mother got a bit confused now I need to see whole CCP statement.
Looks like one has to request a certificate of tax deducted from the CCP agency.0 -
Who does the tax go to and on what justification?
The "justification" is that the interest is taxable.
As your Mother is not a taxpayer, she can apply to HMRC for a refund. CPP can do nothing to reverse this payment.

Certificate of tax deducted needed in order to reclaim that tax though?0
