On the credit card statements it says "Halifax Card Protection" so certainly is for card protection......what do you think??
Sounds like Halifax rather than CPP to me. You need to check on this with Halifax, it's possible they were using a different insurer. Do this prior to re-contacting CPP to ensure you don't have egg on your face.

There is no point attempting to "check on progress" of the other complaint unless you have not even received an acknowledgement of receipt.

Did anyone receive an acknowledgement of receipt?
  • I've kept checking this thread for CPP claim updates. Just to let you know I've received a compensation cheque from CPP for £278.05.
    Here's the breakdown:
Premiums paid on or after 14 January 2005 - £229.97
Gross interest at 8% simple per annum - £60.10
Tax deducted on interest - £12.02

    :j Yay!!!

My surname begins with H and I returned my form within a week of receipt. So hopefully more of you will be getting some good news in the post.
  • I've had a cheque for refund - not sure if we entitled to claim pre 2005? We think we were in the scheme around 1995? Is it safe to pay the cheque in or will it compromise any further clailm?

Yes bank it you will get what was paid after 2005 any claim you put. In for before 2005 is part two of CPP and will not compromise .
Contact the bank if you have proof you paid any earlier payments or write to the scheme processing the claims they will tell you when the policy started .

  • Just thought I'd update as to my success. I received a cheque from CPP yesterday for £213.24.

My pre 2005 claim was settled by Natwest at the end of February for £71.38.

I'd just like to thank those who contributed via MSE and MSE also for the advice.

Plus also thanks to Natwest and CPP for the refund.

As I said in an earlier post Lloyds Banking Group advised me in a phone calk they they had made the decision to repay CPP premiums paid prior to 14 January 2005.

Each bank will be different though!
  • I received my cheque for £181 yesterday had no idea it would be that much but very pleased. Such an easy process reclaiming too
