  • I am very interested in all the comments.
I took out a CPP card protection policy in the 1990's but owing to house moves etc. have no records pre 2001.
The policy lapsed in 2007 after an acrimonious disagreement with the company, who lapsed the policy without informing me after my renewal payment went astray. At that time the renewal payment was about £111.
I wrote to CPP in August this year, and had the standard reply dated 12th. September. So far I have had no further communication, and nothing about voting or how to go about it.

It might be best to speak to the scheme administrators - you can google CPP scheme of arrangement and that should direct you to a page where the contact telephone number is given - I would imagine as long as you can provide your old address and some details to identify yourself they should be able to help you.
  • Frustrated to the max with this whole thing.... So I receive 2 CPP letters with different policy numbers and call throught to the CPP main office on telephone number 08000 834 393 it seems I still have a live policy with RBS paying £36.99 yearly since 2007, they asked me if I wanted to cancel it but until I check here I am not sure as I didn't even know I was paying this!!!!! My question is do I cancel this??? would it affect my claim or should I leave it and wait for the Vote letter to come through???
Also my second policy I called the same number and another number 01904 675 938 to enquire about this other policy, they told me it was a cancelled on and couldnt give me any detail, I.E which bank/card etc and to call the other number back... I did this and aparently I didn't pass security because I couldn't tell them whoi the account was with??? If I don't know I have it how am I able to to tell you who it's with GRRRRRR!!! So then the lady proceeds to tell me they don't have enough information on the system to get me through the security questions, I.E. my DOB, email, post code and can I write in and provide those for her...... its right on the system for the other policy number that I just spoke with her about... but they cant use that.... so long winded and frustrating...
My question to all you lovelies is Do I cancel the RBS policy thats costing me 36 squid a year or leave it run as far as affecting my claim if it all goes through... I asked the lovely lady to raise a complaint with RBS which she did as I wasn't aware I had this and cannot see it on my direct banking..... thanks peeps:eek:

  • I also had no letter either from Barclaycard or CPP; I called CPP and they told me that I was not in scope to receive a refund because my policy was not sold over the phone .

I told the representative that I wanted to challenge that decision because I remember purchasing the policy when I activated my card. She informed me that I need to go back to Barclaycard :mad:.

Barclaycard have set up a department to handle these type of queries; can you believe the cheek of the agent who started going over the benefits of the policy and asking why I should want a refund :mad::mad:.

I quoted him the decision of the judgment and informed him that the policy was sold at the time I activated my card; next thing I know he said he would get this matter investigated.

    Lets see what happens....

That sounds like normal questioning to me, not cheek, considering how many people try it on to get money they're not actually entitled to, or who just forgot they took out the policy in the first place even though somehow they've claimed on it 3 or 4 times.

    Result !

Got letter from barclaycard today, they have upheld my complaint.

They had no data about my premiums prior to 2004, and so used the 2004 premium as the calculation going all the way back to 1990 ( I thought I only started in 1993).

Totally after tax is just over £800.

I have to say once I phoned barclaycard, they dealt with the whole thing within 2 weeks.

All I need to do now is advise them of my bank details.

and ask them to investigate your complaint and respond within 6 weeks or will go to FCA. Be sure to state WHY you think you were missold the policy - this is key to their decision.

Give Barclaycard my details yesterday, money in my account today.

    All done and dusted.
  • I received a letter from CPP telling me that they are looking into refunding people. I had mine sold through Barclays, and even after my Barclays card was cancelled, they still took out payments. I was told I would hear within 12 weeks. Should I contact them before that time is up?
