Got our cheque this morning for a little under £400 :j

To be honest, we had forgotten that we ever had CPP, and only realised when we got the first letter and form, telling us that we could claim from Barclsycard.

So, well done to whoever is organising these refunds.:T

Had to laugh at the fact that it was taxable though - is there anything in this life not subject to tax??

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

We got our cheque this morning too for £261.51 more than I thought it'd be, and like you say I'd forgotten we had it! I paid about £18 tax on my amount!

I'm very pleased to have received my cheque today (for £202.38).
  • Hi!
I am just about to to send my form off but I can not work out which template to use to fill in the box, I had CPP card protection but do not know which template would relate to my case as I thought it covered unauthorised transactions but as I do not have the small print of the contract anymore I am not 100% sure if it did or not. Has anyone filled a form in yet that had theres through CPP? and what template did you use?
    Thanks!

I got a cheque this morning for about £56. Bit disappointed, it mentioned tax and interest, but I thought we would get compensation as well, is this not the case? I don't know whether to bank the cheque or demand more.

No compensation is due. There is no consequential loss so even if you were able to request it (which you can't as the refunds are being handled in accordance with the scheme agreed with the FSA) there'd be no grounds to uphold it.

  • Hi all, quick question.

I took out CPP cover in 2001, renewed in 2004, and cancelled in 2007, so both payments were before the 2005 'cut-off' when the redress scheme kicks in. Nevertheless, I sent a letter of complaint to my bank, they passed it onto CPP, and I received my premium back, plus interest for the 2004 renewal premium only. CPP's letter said that, as they were only regulated by the FCA from Jan 2004, they're not obliged to consider refunding my 2001 payment.

Is this something worth taking to the ombudsman? I'm quite happy to take the time to do it, as I think it'd be worth about £70 if the ombudsman rules in my favour, but just wondering if I have a leg to stand on here?

    Cheers :)
