On searching my records I have discovered that I initially took out my policy on the advice of HSBC bank in 1993!!!
According to some reports I have seen, only CPP policies taken out since 2005 will be eligible for refunds - any ideas please.
It would be better if before asking questions, you check the other posts in this thread (where you'll find this has already been answered) and also read the main site post:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/CPP-card-protection3 - Were you mis-sold before 2005?
The redress scheme is only for people mis-sold card and identity protection products in 2005 and later. If you were mis-sold before 2005 (when insuarnce wasn't regulated), you won't have recieved a letter.
If you had a policy sold before 2005, but that was renewed after 2005, you'll form part of the scheme explained above.
You can complain to your bank though if you were mis-sold before 2005. These things are best done in writing, but if that's too difficult, don't worry about calling. Just ask they note it down as a formal complaint, and also ask for written confirmation.
To help, we've put together a template letter to start you off - download it and fill in the blanks (use it to help start you off, but the more you write it in your own words, the better)
There is also plenty of easy to read & understand information on the main CPP Redress Scheme site (which is linked from the main CPP site and is also in the letters you received from CPP) - http://www.cppredressscheme.co.uk/faq.html0 -
I don't know why people don't read the 'official' information that is already out there before asking the same things here.
It's great that you're posting in reply to so many in this thread, but do be aware that you are going to be posting the same answers again and again from posters who have not read what has been posted on the thread previously. This is especially true as the thread becomes larger and larger.
Don't allow yourself to become too frustrated or your responses will begin to reflect that.0 -

I was sold Advantage Gold promising free travel insurance, good interest rate for overdrafts. At no time was I informed that if we had pre-existing medical conditions we may not be covered. I telephoned the medical insurance company and gave them my husband's medical conditions. 'We will cover everything except for his heart condition'. So I feel we were missold this insurance. I have been into my bank and they have reimbursed four months charges £60 as they say we did use it for any minor overdrafts that we may have used. Most months we were in credit so this didn't help very much. We have a Motability car so didn't need the breakdown cover, that we knew nothing about. I don't know when we took out the Advantage Gold cover but the form asks for the date. How do I get it please.0

Or contact the Bank.
Do be aware that you cannot use the pre-existing medical condition unless it would have precluded you from claiming on the insurance at all. The Insurance provider has already informed you that only claims arising from the heart condition would not be covered.
If the Bank have already reimbursed you, have you not signed to accept this as "full and final" settlement?0 -
Davemidd - I'm new to this forum and finding my way around it, etc. I'm sorry if I've irritated you in any way by not trawling though heaps of info on the CPP issue.
I was just not sure and seeking a quick answer to my query about my being sold CPP Card Protection by HSBC before 2005 and what I should do.
I will try not to bother you again!0
