Just filled in the most recent form 'why do you think you are entitled to compensation' and dated/signed it. I then looked at the 2nd Class pre-paid SAE and thought, would it be wiser to send 1st Class Recorded, given the financial implications associated with this form? The address is a PO BOX would it be received and signed for? TIA
  • Basically I found CPP very convenient when we lost a lot of cards and one phone call cancelled the lot.
If we claim and have the CPP policy cancelled, who else operates such a service please?

Yes. I used to operate a PO Box. When I went to the Callers Office to collect items addressed to the Box, I was asked to sign for Signed For and Special Delivery and (usually) international Registered letters.

I have phoned them up to get a new form as I didn't fill in the form in block capitals! My block capital writing is more scruffy than normal writing.

I cannot remember when I had this, for how long nor who did I buy it from.

Even one year's of £30 payment is better than a kick in the teeth.

  • I have such a policy for a number of years, previously via Barclaycard and later with M and S-unsure who underwrote the policies-though current one is called Cardsafe, which is on the list with the CPP form.
The CPP form lists other benefits in addition to the apparently unnecessary card stolen benefits.

However it does say that if you claim your policy will be cancelled, though have only recently renewed it! Obviously there are 2 problems with this:
-I may still want the other benefits in the future
-I will lose the balance of the money paid for this year
This was confirmed by the helpline. Marks and Spencer Cardsafe said if you cancel you will lose the future other benefits, no mention of any refund or offer of another policy just for the other benefits.

Presume would still be worth claiming, and no doubt some organisation will offer a policy covering the other benefits.
    Any ideas?

Thanks, thats just the news I needed :cool2:
  • I have had a card protection policy with CPP for several years.
If I fill in a claim form, will CPP still honour the policy? If they automatically cancel the policy, where can I get a similar policy. I would want to get the new policy before filling in the form

If you still want the benefits of the policy at the price they're charging, then what are your grounds for claiming compensation?

I'm not sure what "balance of money paid this year" you're saying you'll lose. If you're entitled to compensation then you'll receive a refund of the premiums paid.

I'm not sure wear you mean by "worth claiming"? Either you feel you were mis-sold the policy and therefore paying for something you didn't actually want or need, or you weren't. If the former, then of course the policy should be cancelled and you receive compensation.

There seems to be a lot of people on here that are just treating this as some sort of cash windfall that they're automatically entitled to.

The FSA has already stipulated that every customer was paying for something they didn't need. The premium paid was not broken down into its constituent parts and thus it was all-or-nothing for both cover and cost.

Looking at it from a different angle; what if you feel that part of the cover was mis-sold i.e. the unauthorised transactions aspect, but you were happy with cover provided by the rest? The premium paid covered the entirety of the policy and the redress scheme appears to provide no mechanism for 'partial refunds'.

The redress scheme is black and white. The position many customers (perhaps even most, certainly from what I can gather from much of the discussion here) find themselves in isn't. It's a shame the FSA didn't just tell CPP to give all the money back without individuals having to claim - CPP knew full well what they were upto and continued to do so despite numerous warning by the sounds of it.
