  • 2 Years ago I found all the iva paperwork and sent a letter to everyone on the list of debts. They all responded saying no we didn't pay PPI. so I just wondered if that's the end of it. Or is it worth trying again.
Why on earth do you think that asking again would get you a different answer?

You will only receive a refund of PPI if you actually paid it. You have been told categorically by all your lenders that you didn't have it.

If you don't believe your lenders, you can send a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter which, at £10 a throw, legally obliges them to send you all details they have kept on file for you. That's a very expensive way of getting confirmation of what you already know.

In addition, even if you had PPI (which you didn't), any redress awarded would likely be off set against amounts written off as part of your husband's IVA. You'd receive little or nothing.

You really are wasting your time pursuing this any further.

CPP is not PPI and the CPP Refund scheme has long since ended,by the way.

Whilst the previous post you replied to has been posted in the wrong place all she says is that she has approached the lenders that existed at the time of the IVA. If there were loans in place that were paid off prior to that date they could possibly include PPI ?

The poster was told two years ago by all lenders written to that no PPI was on record for any finance. Two years on, this circumstance won't have changed. Why would it?

I said the poster concerned could write a SAR letter to ensure that all information available was divulged two years ago, but I fear this will be an expensive (£10 for each lender) and futile activity.

I'm happy to be proved wrong on this..

I'm not sure why I have to reiterate this, though ? I thought it was clear in the original reply?

Incidentally, I mentioned CPP because that is the subject of this thread, not because the query was posted "in the wrong place".
  • Hi,

I'm trying to help my mother with her CPP claim. We filled in the form ages ago but heard nothing. After the august deadline we chased it and they said they had already sent a cheque a couple of months before. So they said they could reissue it but it would take 8 weeks. After chasing again they said they had re-sent it again on 5th Nov but still nothing has arrived. The address they have is correct and they cannot issue the money any other way.
It seems so unlikely that 2 cheques would be lost that i think they are lying. I don't want to go through the 8 week wait again. Has anyone else had this problem ?
    Thanks.
  • Hi i have recieved a payment from my PPI claim against HSBC credit card. I asked for a breakdown , on recieving this i noticed that several months of PPI premiums were missing. I contacted the bank, to ask them why these were missing, they gave me some guff about the 6 year rule, very strange i though as premiums were paid over 10 years ago. They also told me that the payment was final, as i dont really believe a word they said, i called the Ombudsman, a very helpful lady answered, i told her what i had been told by the bank. I also told her that i have HSBC bank statements showing payments to my credit card and also credit card statement showing a balance on my credit card of over £4000. She advised my to contact HSBC and tell them that i wish the redress to be looked at again by HSBC, as it would take iover a year for them to deal with it. I called HSBC to ask them to look again, and that i had spoken to the ombudsman, and i had statements as evidence of a balance on my credit card and therefor PPI had been paid. after being very obstructive i told her that i would forword to the onbusman so they would deal with it, at this point and with great reluctance she asked me to send in the paperwork, which i did with a stinking letter. It will only be about £300 but im not letting them get away with a penny

    Wow! :j
Got my cheque for the expected amount from CPP, well happy although this is only a small portion of what is owed to me. The larger portion comes from Santander from 1993 - 2004 which, is now being pursued/investigated by FOS. Officially complained to FOS in January, had to wait 8 weeks and now have to wait again..

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin Lewis for bringing this issue to my attention whilst listening to Radio 2 (IIRC) back in 2013.

UPDATE: The 1993-2004 compensation from Santander has been accepted by myself and I await the cheque from them..WOOHOO!

Special Thanks to my FOS adjudicator who assisted us throughout the whole process. Good things come to those who pursue and wait.. :T

I got my HSBC pre-2005 back last month. Had to chase them for it.

  • I was sent a cheque for £73 back in April, but have only just got around to cashing it. However I was told the cheque has now expired (foolishly I hadn't realised this would happen). Does anyone know how I could get CPP to reissue the cheque?

    Thanks
  • Hi, I received a cheque but disputed it, and sent off the form before the deadline of Aug.
I waited a while and heard nothing. I did not bank the cheque as that would indicate I accepted the compensation.
I called them up today and they said that they have not received any new form from me or a dispute.
Not I have no cheque to bank and they said to write in to see what can be done, although the scheme had now closed.

Can anyone advise on what I can do?
I recall posting it, as I had paid extra at the post office for it to get there 1st class! I have unfortunately lost the proof of posting..
