Quick update:
Having been successful with CPP 'post-regulation', I turned my attention to NatWest for the 14yr period I had the policy through them pre-regulation (1991-2005).
It's been going back and forth for about 6 weeks now (requests for documentary proof, previous addresses, etc...) but earlier today my latest chase-up phone call resulted in me being told they intend to reimburse me in full + interest, a figure around the £480 mark.
I'm really chuffed and my advice to anyone pursuing their bank for recompense pre-2005 is don't give up....
That's great news, well done! I definitely had a CPP policy through NatWest prior to 2005. I don't know exactly how far back I had the policy for, but I definitely had it in 2004 as I've found the paperwork. I'll send them a letter tomorrow and see what happens!
I've also found a letter on CPP letterhead which appears to relate to a CPP policy associated with a store card my wife had back in 2004. Is it worth complaining to the store in question with a copy of the paperwork?
Thanks.Big thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

I had had the forms re CPP reclaiming and sent everything back except the final claim and your Template Letter came at just the right time. I've just received £283. Thanks Martin0

I waited until a week before the deadline before sending our letters off. My husband got a letter with a cheque for £250 yesterday.
We've no idea what card or company we were claiming off either. I just copied the template on here.
I haven't had a letter back for mine yet but would assume i'd get one telling me if I wasn't entitled to anything?
My husband got his on the 12th of September. I sent both letters off together but only got my reply today and it's a cheque for £174.94 - so we got £424.94 back in total. Very happy thanks to this site!0 -
Blimey- got a cheque for just over 304 quid today, having applied barely before the August deadline using Martin's template...
Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick eh!
I'm off to bank it!
Thanks MSE0 -
Got my claim in the week before the deadline using the mse template.
I had both credit card protection and identify protection. Just got a cheque for £396 including interest
Very happy right now0 -

Got a cheque through for £74.79 so a good result . But as I had the card and key protection from 1998-2005 thought it would be more . Should I approach the yorkshirebank itself as its pre 2005 ? Are they soposed to be responsible . Any advice please0

We moved three years or so ago and in the purge pre 2004 we threw away bak statements! We have had the same account and sort code for over 20 years. I can tell them what year we took it out and CPP account number . Does the bank have facility's to trace it back ? Till 98? . I did call them to tell them my intention to raise formal complaint but when I went to use template I can't fill the statement part. Anyone had same issues ?0 -

However, the fact that you have had the same account for far longer than that is cause for optimism, but you'll only know for sure by contacting the bank with your complaint.0
