I sat on the paperwork from CPP for months thinking there was no point as I could not recall when/how long/how much PPI I had paid on the Egg card I used to have years ago. I then saw the template responses on MSE and on 30th August decided to post it - sent guaranteed next day delivery (31st Aug the deadline was a Saturday, so it cost around £10... I almost didn't post thinking it would be a waste of money as I had no idea what I was claiming for even!) Decided to take a gamble, and just received £31 cheque last week ....so profit of £21 for 10 minutes form filling plus queuing time at Post office.....Not much I know but unexpected so all the sweeter!

I got the letters but thought it was the same as PPI and was just scaremongering with the date. I accidentally came across someone speaking on Radio 2 on 27 August, explaining about the closure of the redress scheme and advising people to claim.
That lady said they had secured concessions for people who thought the letter was junk, namely that if they no longer had the claim form CPP sent, they could send a letter but they must quote the reference number on it. Unfortunately the reference number was on the form so if you hadn't one you probably hadn't the other either, so they had further secured confirmation that people could claim using their policy number, if they were able to find original paperwork.
When I looked, I couldn't find the form but did find previous correspondence with both policy and reference numbers on, so I wrote a letter quoting both. My father did have his form and we both gave very similar reasons for claiming.
He got a cheque within about 2 weeks but last week I got a letter telling me they had sent me a claim form in February and as I hadn't returned it and the scheme had closed I could no longer claim.
I've been trying to find out who that lady was on R2 and/or what organisation she represented to find out if I have grounds to take this further. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.0 -
Moneyineptitude wrote: »That's just nonsense I'm afraid. No one at the Bank will be "prepared" for the letter and people dealing with your complaint will be completely unaware you've even made prior contact. I provided a link to the correct procedure a few posts back.
Just send the complaint, they have eight weeks to respond-not two days. Don't waste any more time.
After your information I was prepared to post the letter this week however Yorkshire bank called me this afternoon they are going to pay every one of my payments back from Nov 98 till 2005 plus the 8% interest .......Result looking at over £400 !0 -

Has anyone had any luck with M&S Cardsafe prior to 2005 please? Feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall with them :wall:0

I got my cheque last from them for just over a £100.
I have an old cc statement that shows £70 payment to them for 3 years cover in 2007.
I cant find any other statement before that but I know I paid for 3 years before that but have no proof.
The letter from them says I paid them £70 and then the interest was added and tax deducted but no mention of what I paid 3 years before that. I would of thought they would of paid me the 2 years from 2005 or will I have to claim from the people before that?0 -
CPP paid up £174 for post-2005
NatWest paid up £482 for pre-2005
HMRC have agreed in principle to refund tax deducted (£64'ish)
So, £700+ and to think I'd originally binned it as scam mail...

Took out a card protection policy with Marks and Spencer 1992. Received compensation from CPP for post 2005.
Decided to write to Marks and Spencer outlining mis selling points pre and post 2005- included all the correspondence I had to back up my complaint for pre 2005.
Marks and Spencer wrote back refusing to accept my complaint.
I then contacted the Financial Ombudsman that was 7 months ago-again included all my correspondence to back up my complaint.
Received a reply stating that they are unable to help as before FCA regulated from 2005 it was a member of the General Insurance Standards Council from 2001 and as my complaint is from 1992 they are unable to consider it!?
I looked up on internet and it states that it regulated by the ABI prior to this and FOS felt that their standards are similar to FCA's?
Any suggestions about how to move forwards?0 -
