  • I reported them to the Ombudsman
The Ombudsman is the final arbiter in disputes between Financial Institutions and their customers. HSBC did nothing wrong in rejecting your complaint (they simply did not agree that it was mis-sold), so you did not and could not "report" them. The quick turnaround of your referred complaint indicates that HSBC have decided to pay you rather than incur the Ombudsman fee (likely to be a whole lot more than your CPP refund) and they will carefully avoid admitting any mis-selling took place. Any payment you receive will be deemed a "Goodwill" gesture.

Regardless of your confusion, well done on a positive result.

I'd just like to say thank you to Martin, etc, for the help and templates on this site. I posted mine on the last day, 1st class and got a cheque for £428 this morning. I wouldn't have got round to it without the templates so thanks again.

I wish now I had been more organised and asked if I could have claimed back on my late husbands cards, he had the same cards as me, but hey-ho I'm still happy enough

I would like to thank Martin Lewis and this site, i have just received a cheque for £220 for cpp...when the original letter came last year i opened it, put it in a draw and forgot about it, i sent my claim off a week before the deadline and hey presto, if it had not been for MSE e-mail i would never have sent it, so thank you so much again, every little helps.

  • Thanks MSE. I knew I didn't have CPP very long as I cancelled at the first opportunity. Like many I put the claim form in a drawer and forgot about it.
Prompted by this site posted it on final day. Received cheque for £76.63 today for the price of a postage stamp. Not as much as some but I am delighted. Thanks again

    Cheque arrived today for £130.

However cheeky so & so's deducted tax from the payment. Surely that's not right? Not heard any other ppi compensation deducting tax

If you are a taxpayer, the interest element of any redress awarded is taxable. This is the law, not "cheek".
If you are not a taxpayer, then the amount deducted can be claimed back from HMRC (though not immediately).
  • Just got home to a cheque for £340, thanks for the guidance on how to fill out form, probably wouldn't have bothered sending it off if you hadn't suggested some wording
  • I posted my completed CPP compensation form to CPP on 15th August, 2 weeks before the deadline, however as of today’s date 18th Sept, I have not received any reply or acknowledgement. Should I have received a reply by now or should I expect to wait longer?

25th Sept: Telephoned CPP, after 6 weeks, they confirmed receipt of claim and advised that claimants will receive notification of result within 8 weeks.

They actually have 16 weeks in which to respond fully and finally.
  • Hi

Not sure if anyone has claimed after 31st August and had any success? I had my form but did not post it off and was out the on country for the last ten days of August.

I notice the comment on the being out of the country but that was for six months or more! Any help much appreciated as just moved house so very skint at the moment!

    Thanks
