    Hi

Just to let you know my cheque for £281.04 arrived which I was sceptical on receiving as I was a pre 2005 policy holder. However, my policy has been cancelled which I wasn't expecting. Did I miss something in the small print? Just got back from holiday with all my key stuff covered in CCP policy labels so the timing was just right.

So you really thought they were going to pay you back all your money based on you not needing the policy - and then let you keep it? Priceless! :rotfl:

Apologies if I've missed anyone else mentioning it previously, but after following the advice on MSE about contacted the FOS after being turned down by HSBC, yesterday I received a phone call from them telling me that HSBC have conceded to paying back all my premiums since taking the policy out, plus 8% interest! :j Don't know as yet how much this will be, but they are going to put a form in the post to me. Watch this space.....

It was a long way back (page 84) when I got the same call and have had the FO form emailed to me, signed, scanned and sent it back but still no word from HSBC so they are taking their time - probably swamped with paperwork! Diddums! :j

I'm having a complete 'mare with all this.

To sum up. I was called after getting a credit card in 2009 and sold the CPP package. Told that fraud was a real threat and the usual bobbins.

When I didn't get a letter from CPP I rang them and they confirmed that I had been set up in 2009, but it was MBNA who called and not them, I should in turn speak to MBNA and log a complaint.

After the complaint was logged, MBNA got back to me saying they didn't have any details of my setting up such a scheme through them and should I disagree with this, I should go to the financial ombudsman. Just ot be sure,I called CPP agian and they confirmed that MBNA had set it up, gave all the details I would need to complain and so I did.

Now the FO has come back and said it's got nothing to do with them and I should go to CPP, but I can't anyway as the cut off date has passed.

I did send a copy of the letter from MBNA to the FO that states I should go through them if I'm not happy.

So what can I do? I worked out that I'm owed around £450 but with the 30th of August been and gone, what can I do? I've replied to the FO for clarification but this is a real kick in the teeth.

Ask CPP to send you a letter confirming your policy with them , the start date and Bank ie MBNA in this case.

Forward to MBNA see what they say as explanation .
    Easy !!
Do not phone do it all in writing .

    Hello everyone,

I was one of the many it seems who tossed the original CPP letter in the bin thinking it was just another 'PPI-esque' invitation - never thought for one minute it was of genuine value.

My wife then told me mid-August that one of her work colleagues had received a compensation cheque from CPP and was also pursuing her bank for payments made pre-regulation.

I duly phoned CPP to request the forms again, was recognised instantly (by name and address), and the claim form came in the post a couple of days later.

Due to depart for holiday on 22nd August I sent my claim in the day prior to travel using the reply paid envelope via RM Special Delivery, to be certain.

    This morning I received a cheque for £174.66 - just 21 days later !!!

Really chuffed, even though I think I may have been slightly short changed on their calculation of Item A (premiums paid) which was £125.00.

My qualifying period was 14.01.05 to 28.07.10, approx. 5 1/2 years. My final renewal notice, dated July 2010 (which I declined, thinking it was now money for old rope) was for £36.99 per annum.

I would have thought, therefore, premiums paid over the 5 1/2 year period would be nearer to £165, assuming an average annual premium of, say, £30 ???

Has anyone else disputed their initial pay-out resulting in a positive outcome? Not sure whether it's worth the hassle to be honest...

Edit: Oh I forgot to say, I'm also claiming against NatWest who originally co-erced me into signing up to CPP in 1991 !!! Hopefully, they'll do the honourable thing for the 14 years of cover I had through them pre-regulation... :-)
  • I kept thinking 'I must get round to sending that form back' and eventually did send it back in late July.

This week received a cheque for £175 - hurrah.

Will now try claiming from M&S for the premiums paid in the previous years.

So I had a letter from CPP over 18 months ago, didn't really know what to do with it and it ended up in the bin....
One morning I was pottering around the kitchen when I heard Martin Lewis talking about the CPP letters And that if you have received it , to fill it in and send it back for a refund . He also gave the number to phone for a new form to be sent out if you had lost the original- ME!
So anyway, I had the letter resent , followed martins instructions on a guide of what to write and sent it back. Think this was about 3 week ago...ish.
Anyway I received a Cheque today for £158!! Thank you thank you thank you . I was lucky I had this morning on!!
    Very much appreciative mum.:

I just got my post early with a very dour, tail-between-the-legs letter from HSBC telling me that a further £244 is being paid direct into my account!! :j:beer:So the same amount again as I got from CPP but I have to go through the whole pain in the **** rigmarole again of claiming back the tax paid on my behalf as a non taxpayer, which on the same amount is double what was paid on the last settlement. And I did not tick or untick any boxes to agree to that!

    To Rotti.

Can you tell me how you went about getting a refund from HSBC/Midland please.
My dad filled in his form last month and sent it off to CPP but has not got a reply yet.
After he sent it off he went through some old bank stuff and found out that he had been paying Midland/HSBC since 1993 for protection. He went to his branch in Luton and asked them about it and was told call HSBC for more info.
I would like to know how should he write to them or will the form he sent off to CPP pay him?.

    Thanks.

Initially the HSBC refused to pay so I went to the FO who have made them do a u-turn, so if you contact them now you should have more success. If whoever you speak to still says they are not paying make them double check and then if you are still having trouble contact the Wealth Complaints Manager on the direct number on my letter..... *. it is definitely worth doing as on mine the premiums paid were £127 and the interest £145.86! Just spent 20 minutes on the phone to HMRC to get the form for refund which will take 10 working days to get here. When told I could download it I asked if they would be prepared to add £30 for ink cartridges - it's a big form!!

    The procedure is the same for any complaint. MSE have helpfully provided a template letter which can be found here;

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/CPP-card-protection?_ga=1.203942290.340047350.1365283676#2005

Details at the link. Do remember the Bank have eight weeks to consider complaints and, if they reject, you can refer it to the Ombudsman.
