  • Hi I recently found a Payment break plan and CPP and called CPP to enquire as to why I hadnt had any paperwork regarding this account, The lady was very nice and sent me the paperwork to make a claim, but told me I needed to return it pretty sharpish before cut off date which I thing was the end of Aug. I did that in plenty of time, but have not heard anything yet, roughly 2 weeks now, my question is, is there a number I can call to check on the progress of the claim now that the redress line has been closed. Many thanks, this was regarding a monument CPP policy.

  • Hi

Just to let you know my cheque for £281.04 arrived which I was sceptical on receiving as I was a pre 2005 policy holder. However, my policy has been cancelled which I wasn't expecting. Did I miss something in the small print? Just got back from holiday with all my key stuff covered in CCP policy labels so the timing was just right.
  • We have had a Cpp policy since 2006. I phoned a few days before the claim deadline at the end of August. I was told that they had not sent us a claim letter because we were deemed not eligible to claim. And the reason was because we had claimed for losses twice (true) due to car theft etc, and the 2 payouts amounted to more than the premiums we paid in for the years concerned.
Were they right in refusing me the right to claim ? Their marketing methods were at fault in the first place.

Any suggestions of a more reputable and cheaper alternative cards/keys rescue service?
    Thanks
  • Just a quick note to pro in some positive feedback. I saw Martin on This Morning mid August talking about the CPP form. I realised that I had received a letter but hadn't completed it and sent it back. I dug it out and with the help of this website managed to complete the form and get it sent in before the end of August deadline.

Last week I received a cheque for £611. I am very grateful, thanks to Martin and his site for prompting me to take action - very much appreciated.

I received 2 claim forms for ID protection and card protection and sent them off about 6 weeks ago. On friday I recieved a letter and cheque for one of the poilices, the cheque being £30.97.

It says that if I held more than 1 policy this amount will be a total for all policies! Now I'm not sure but I think I had 2 going back at least 4 years but more like 10! (the last letter I can find is from 2010) On the back its says premiums paid = £20?

Now surely if I have a letter about this policy from 2010 this is wrong? I just phoned CPP and feel like I've been tricked..

I gave my name and policy number and asked the question about the premiums paid.. The lady said I had to answer 2 security questions before she could look at it, ok no problem..
1st question, 'what year did you 1st take out the policy?'
Me- 'I'm not sure, but I have a letter from 2010 but I know I took it out years before?'
CPP- 'You have 3 more chance to asnwer correctly'
I tried a different year but failed so was told that I had to answer the question 'when did the policy end?'
    Me- 'this year'
CPP- '3 more chances then you have failed!'

So I guessed and failed, and no details would be given to me!! Now I'm not being funny but they are not my security questions, I have the policy number and unique reference number!!

Smells like they've stitched me up and dont want to give me details so I cant claim more..

    Anyone else had this?

Am I the only one who's been stitched up? I still dont know what to do about this? Does anyone have any advice as they wont talk to me on the phone and I had this policy for around 10 years.. If I sent the cheque back and refused, what will happen as I dont have any real evidence apart from a letter in 2010?
  • Send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. It will cost £10, but they will release all information they hold on file for you.

Incidentally, nothing you have said indicates that you've been "stitched up".
  • Apologies if I've missed anyone else mentioning it previously, but after following the advice on MSE about contacted the FOS after being turned down by HSBC, yesterday I received a phone call from them telling me that HSBC have conceded to paying back all my premiums since taking the policy out, plus 8% interest! :j Don't know as yet how much this will be, but they are going to put a form in the post to me. Watch this space.....
  • I'm having a complete 'mare with all this.

To sum up. I was called after getting a credit card in 2009 and sold the CPP package. Told that fraud was a real threat and the usual bobbins.

When I didn't get a letter from CPP I rang them and they confirmed that I had been set up in 2009, but it was MBNA who called and not them, I should in turn speak to MBNA and log a complaint.

After the complaint was logged, MBNA got back to me saying they didn't have any details of my setting up such a scheme through them and should I disagree with this, I should go to the financial ombudsman. Just ot be sure,I called CPP agian and they confirmed that MBNA had set it up, gave all the details I would need to complain and so I did.

Now the FO has come back and said it's got nothing to do with them and I should go to CPP, but I can't anyway as the cut off date has passed.

I did send a copy of the letter from MBNA to the FO that states I should go through them if I'm not happy.

So what can I do? I worked out that I'm owed around £450 but with the 30th of August been and gone, what can I do? I've replied to the FO for clarification but this is a real kick in the teeth.
  • Hi,

I originally, like many others, threw my form away. After reading the article on MSE I called and asked for a new form which they sent. This was around late June/early July. I still haven't received a reply. My sister claimed and received a cheque within about 3 weeks. I have only just realised that the Scheme is now closed. But I've noticed that people are still receiving cheques after the closing date. Is there anyway to check the progress of my claim or find out if it is even being processed? My plan had been to give them a call!!
    Thanks for any help!
  • People who claimed prior to the closing date will still be being paid for some time yet. The refund scheme is only closed for new complaints.

Do note that they (apparently) have up to 16 weeks in which to reply before you can approach the Ombudsman.

You really should have checked long before now whether your complaint has been received, though it certainly isn't a forgone conclusion that it has gone astray.
