I sent my claim form back Thursday Via SD to the PO Box address on the letter and I have just rang them to confirm that they had received it and yes they have so fingers crossed.
  • Thanks for the chasers to do this before end of August. I submitted mine 4 weeks ago and just got a cheque for 46.42, I won't be able to retire early unfortunately but it gets a nice meal for me and the missus

I received 2 claim forms for ID protection and card protection and sent them off about 6 weeks ago. On friday I recieved a letter and cheque for one of the poilices, the cheque being £30.97.

It says that if I held more than 1 policy this amount will be a total for all policies! Now I'm not sure but I think I had 2 going back at least 4 years but more like 10! (the last letter I can find is from 2010) On the back its says premiums paid = £20?

Now surely if I have a letter about this policy from 2010 this is wrong? I just phoned CPP and feel like I've been tricked..

I gave my name and policy number and asked the question about the premiums paid.. The lady said I had to answer 2 security questions before she could look at it, ok no problem..
1st question, 'what year did you 1st take out the policy?'
Me- 'I'm not sure, but I have a letter from 2010 but I know I took it out years before?'
CPP- 'You have 3 more chance to asnwer correctly'
I tried a different year but failed so was told that I had to answer the question 'when did the policy end?'
    Me- 'this year'
CPP- '3 more chances then you have failed!'

So I guessed and failed, and no details would be given to me!! Now I'm not being funny but they are not my security questions, I have the policy number and unique reference number!!

Smells like they've stitched me up and dont want to give me details so I cant claim more..

    Anyone else had this?
  • I originally threw away the claim form, but rang to request another. I used phrases from MSE website on the form and have just got a cheque for £285! Result!

    Hi,
My claim form is addressed to me in my Maiden name. Does anybody know what will happen in relation to payment in relation to having a different name from when this was taken out? I've had no correspondence for years in relation to this and to be honest - forgot I'd ever taken it.

My policy was in my original married name when taken out but I remarried so had a different name when I claimed - I just put a note to that effect on the form and it was OK as the main thing is that the account numbers are correct.

I just wanted to add my thanks to MSE. Like many others I threw away the first letter I received and after reading the various comments on the forum I called up CPP for another claim at the beginning of August. I have now received a cheque for £400 which is a pleasant surprise!
  • Hi,
I have just found The Letter when tidying my study after the summer holidays, and it is now 7th September 2014. Up until now I had thought that this and the phone calls were just spam and phishing about some other thing - of which there is so much about.

Unfortunately none of the communication was specifically directed at me and the Barclaycard Protection that I took out in 2005 and cancelled 10 years later when I finally twigged that I was paying for protection against fraud which was already covered by Barclaycard. The fraud I was suffering WAS the protection insurance.

So what do I do now that the window is closed?

I am sure I am not the only one in this boat.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers, Jim
  • The other comment I make about what caused me to overlook The Letter is that it came from an organisation that I did not recognise.
My cover was with Barclaycard Card Protection; 'CPP' meant nothing to me.
In my view this compensation scheme was a very badly organised and targeted campaign.

    MSE advice article here;

MSE are recommending people fill in the forms even though the deadline has passed. Whether this will be successful is uncertain though.

Well they wrote to everyone affected (twice), so I don't quite know how that could have been improved upon. Nevertheless, you missed the deadline and you don't appear to meet their criteria of "exceptional circumstance".

Well, my dad has had this for years and he was just going to leave it running until I shown him this website and that there was no real reason to keep the policy.

It's been over a month and he got a cheque in the post on Friday for £1592.09. He was shocked but pleased with the outcome.
