    just rung cpp about compensation and they told me my policy number and dates it started and finished but then said it wasn't taken out with them it was through my credit card company.
    Clearly, your complaint then is to the credit card company.
    Send copies of your proof of payment of this insurance to them, more advice here;

    at least we both agree that the Ombudsman is the way to go
    The Ombudsman is the only option available now, but that doesn't automatically mean the referred complaint will be upheld.

    In addition, the Ombudsman queue is around eighteen months so there won't be any quick payout for Adm14 even if the Bank capitulates rather than pay the FOS fee.

    Ok so I did a stupid thing and chucked all these forms out thinking they were rubbish, not so as I found out, and nearly too late! So I rang them up (as suggested on the blog) and told them I had stupidly chucked the forms. They are now saying (as I have none of the letters now with any claim number on) that I am not on their system. A tactic to not let me claim I guess!

    Got a cheque for £276.01 for the identity protection policy today! No sign of a cheque for the card protection policy yet.....

    Update - just called them to ask for info re the card protection policy, and they said I would hear shortly as they were being dealt with separately. I was holding for 16 minutes (and called via 0114 452 0800) before someone answered. The intitial message did say they were not taking calls due to high call volumes, but I still got the option to press 2 to speak to someone, so did. Called via mobile so easier to have on loudspeaker whilst I continued with other admin/
    if i had known then what i know now

    That doesn't happen, there are no such "tactics" being employed. They can find you from the addresses and other personal details you provide. You don't need a "claim number".

    If you are not on their system then the paperwork you threw away was just rubbish as you thought in the first place.

    If you originally received a letter informing you that you could apply for a refund, then you would indeed still be "on their system".

    If you have documentary evidence that you've paid more than this since 2005, then you can challenge the amount refunded. Otherwise, I don't see how you can progress.
  • I had the letter and put it to one side, not thinking I had the right to claim as I'd taken out the service over 10 years ago. I followed your advice and today I received a cheque for £228. Thanks very much!

    Toneh, Ring them again, I did 3 weeks ago, they sent me a form to complete with the dates this was originally taken out. I completed the form and sent it back low and behold I received a cheque today for £167.74 thank you very much. I was sold this through Capital One!!!! Not a favourite, and ended all dealings with them years back. They were wrong as always.

    You may say it doesn't happen but it has. I know for certain that the letters I had thrown away were infact CPP letters as my mother in law showed me her letters months ago and asked what I thought it was. I took my letter, showed her they were the same and said I thought it was just junk. Luckily she had filed hers away and not listened to me and has now sent her claim form off. So I was DEFINATELY on their system and I am now being told I am not when I asked for a new form. I have lived at the same address for 11 years, haven't changed my name all details are the same yet now they 'cannot find me on their system'
