  • Just realised, ive still not sent this back. However Ive lost my pre-paid envelope. Can I send back with envelope + stamp...or do I need official envelope ?
  • Found a payment of £15 (just a one-off annual payment, not monthly) to "card protection tel" on my mum's bank statements from 2003 and 2004. Is this likely to be a CPP payment? It seems low compared to the amounts people are listing here! She seems to be missing her bank statements from 2005-2008, but CPP have sent her a letter and claim form, so she presumably had *something* post-2005 to qualify, although whatever it was, it had been cancelled by 2008.

I assume that unless I can figure out who "card protection tel" was being paid to, then she can't claim for pre-2005 amounts? She doesn't have any bank statements from before 2003 either.

    Thanks

Sorry, quoting myself is a bit weird, but just wanted to say my Mum got a cheque for £45.99 yesterday, so she must have paid £15 in 2005 and 2006 (plus interest and minus tax for the £45.99) as well as 2003 and 2004 (still no idea who she could try to claim that from though unfortunately). Still £45.99 is not bad for 20mins of my time filling out a form (Mum wanted to throw it in the bin and not bother, so she's letting me have the money for insisting I do it!) :)

I should think so. I do have the envelope but am considering whether I should send it by recorded delivery or ask for a proof of postage in case it goes missing, especially as the deadline isn't too far away.

Has anyone sent one very recently and had an acknowledgement or are they able to confirm receipt if you phone them?

Apologies if it's already been answered but it would take me until 30th August to read the whole thread!

  • Regarding claiming pre-2005 CPP compensation from the Bank of Scotland - the process turned out to be significantly easier than I imagined it would be. They have set a team to deal with CPP claims. Unfortunately they haven't told their branch staff about it, but I eventually managed to get through to talk to the right person and received a cheque for £400 a week later (I had CPP since 1988). No forms to fill in, just a 5 minute call to give some details! You can contact them on 0800 409 6556 or 01383 641202 if calling from a mobile. I expect the swift resolution of my case was helped due to me already successfully claiming through the CPP scheme.

    Good luck!

Well done on this , could you quote the address who refunded you with the cheque ?
I have a similar issue but after writing not sure where to send.

This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.
  • I have received a cpp form but it is an invite to vote on how they review the way the card was sold?
  • I received the letters from CPP and followed it through but when it came to pay out i was told to contact bank which was MBNA i had terrible problems with them, when i phoned which had to be many times i was given wrong information they wrote to me twice but it was to an address i left 8 years ago even though i repeatedly told them the address i was at now. After a few weeks i received a letter to say i had been declined one of the reasons was because i had paid by direct debit. I then sent a changed template of martins together with my reasons why i was not satisfied with this to the financial ombudsman I very quickly received a reply and they found i was entitled to the full refund plus interest at 8%. I have heard from MBNA and i am now waiting for my cheque which is due to arrive any day now.
So thankyou martin and thankyou financial ombudsman for quick response.
  • Hi, I was wondering where I stand with this.
I had a letter months ago that got thrown away. I phoned the number and they said the had my street but not my name.
They then gave me a different number to call.

They said they could only tell me if I had an account in the last six months and I had to write to them otherwise. I will write to find out but I'm not sure whether I should be able to fill out a form or something as well as I don't wan't to miss the deadline date.

Any help would be appreciated

You may be cutting it too fine. If they take a few weeks to respond the deadline will have passed.
  • Just received a cheque for £180.00 from my CPP claim.
To be honest, I was dubious about doing it, after being refused on a PPI claim with Barclays, but I sent the form in and a few weeks later got my cheque.
