  • I claimed my CPP a couple of weeks ago after seeing Martin on the TV.
I had already cancelled my policy months ago.
This evening there was a cheque for £553.87 waiting for me when I arrived home.
    Thanks Martin.
  • Just want to write and thank you for the info on claiming my CPP that I took out back in 1997. I got a nice cheque today for £254.

The CPP helpline people are really helping though it can take a while to get through on the phones.

They told me that I had 2 policies in the history.

The 1st one ran from 97 - 2000 on a HSBC credit card (which was closed a long time ago have but think I can find the details)

The 2nd running from 2000 to 2012 on my current account.

I intend to try and get back the pre-2005 payments.

My question are: can I just write to HSBC with the 2 account numbers?
    (debit & Credit cards)

Also are the credit card rules/rulings against them different ?

    Thanks in advance

I have spoke to cpp to day about a policy i had with them but they have told me that i am not entitled to any refund as my policy was sold to me by a credit card company. So the responsibility is with the credit card company not them. can any one tell me if this is right

Why would you trust random people on the internet over the official channel which you've already used? The refund scheme only covers the period post 2005 and that's more likely to be the reason CPP are directing you to complain to your credit card company.
If you were eligible for the scheme, CPP would have already written to you.

Am I the only one who hates it when you reply to people in this way?
I personally have found CPP's administrative procedures wanting and are you seriously suggesting that they have not made mistakes?
Why shouldn't Mahon252 check the information given by CPP with people here?

I provided a link to the MSE advice article which clearly states that the CPP clerk who spoke to the other user was not mistaken. While I agree internet forums can be very informative, no one should take the advice or opinion of some random person on the internet over that of the official channels.

There is a handy "ignore" feature if you find other user's posts objectionable or somehow irritating.
  • Thanks for the replies. Just a quick update in case anyone is interested - received a cheque for £430 from CPP on Thursday which was 3 weeks 2 days from posting my claim form. Good luck to anyone else waiting on a reply!

Just phoned the CPP phone line to ask for a replacement form, the only documentation I have, is the two statements that show payments made from my credit card to IP Protection in April 2008/9, he said he could find the policy number based upon my address etc., he then stated it did not qualify and I would need to contact the bank that issued the policy - but is that not the point for the miss selling - that when you activated the card it was not the bank, it was CPP on the other end of the phone, out to sell the policy.

Have I got this all wrong, does the policy still have to be in force, can you claim for the miss selling of a policy from the past - just wondered.

Adendum - I did read the notes about going to the bank to complain, as these payments were after 2005 was a little puzzled why the CPP said it did not qualify!

I have gone through these posts as carefully as I can, so please dont shoot me if this has already been covered: I have been sent claim forms but mislaid them. How do I get another form?
    Thanks
