You can call the scheme team on 08000 83 43 93 and ask them how best to proceed.

Have there been many successes with claiming for before 2005 with banks? I've had my cheque from CPP for post-2005, which was a surprising amount, so figured it was worth trying to get pre-2005 money back to.

Sent a letter to Barclays last week (it was originally for an Egg card), using the logic that if CPP have already coughed up, what excuse could Barclays have for not!?
  • I've got my CPP refund - thanks a lot CPP.

however, I had CPP solely for the easy-reclaim lost keys, credit cards, wallet, luggage etc - one phone call dealt with them all. When I lost my car keys well away from home, I had them back within 20 mins thanks to a passer by who found them and phoned the CPP no, who got in touch with me on the hoof. (btw, did anyone else read the small print and see that charge for the insurance element was something very trivial compared with the overall cost of CPP? Not for me to point it out to them, perhaps there's a reason.)

So what I'd like to know, is where can I find this emergency card/property service now? Martin mentioned the banks, but all my enquiries so far have drawn a blank. One bank offered it if you took out their paid-for de luxe account.

All suggestions would be gratefully received.

Put your mobile number on a key fob instead? You are likely to be not that far away when they're found and so could easily arrange a local pickup. There's no need to get a 3rd party involved.
  • Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that I wrote to Barclaycard as advised, due to CPP saying it was not their responsibility to deal with my complaint. I posted the letter a week ago using the template on this site as a guide and today I received a refund of £635.95

My complaint was regarding mis-sold identity protection.

Anyone considering it might be too much hassle if its not directly through CPP, don't be put off.

Good luck and thank you MSE :-)

Please can someone help me fill in my form! I am confused. I took a policy out in 1992 and it automatically renews. I know I can claim back from 2005 but how do I know what amount they were covering either in 1992 or 2005? Can I just pluck a random figure? Also for the policy from 1992 to 2005 do I write a separate letter?

Success story for me - My CPP was pre the dates of the redress scheme, but I wrote to Canada Square Operations who are handling Egg claims. they wrote to me today confirming a cheque was on its way to me - very easy to understand and professional communication - not a huge amount but I am still pleased, it will go towards a nice pub lunch and better in my pocket than sat dormant :)
