Put your mobile number on a key fob instead? You are likely to be not that far away when they're found and so could easily arrange a local pickup. There's no need to get a 3rd party involved.
thanks! Is there anyone who offers the one-phone-call-contacts-all-cardholders service, if your wallet is stolen, or the passport and card replacement service without tying you in to an expensive account?

You could always just use MSE's own cardsgone.com tool to create your own up-to-date list of cards and contacts numbers.

Sure, you'll have to phone each in turn but I am assuming that card loss doesn't happen to you all that regularly so a little bit of legwork ought not to be an issue.
  • Had my claim rejected by cpp as I was introduced to them pre2005 by my card provider sainsburys bank who are not part of the scheme. CPP have passed my claim onto sainsburys bank but I have heard nothing yet.

I took out CPI through Barclaycard and the policy was issued through Sentinel Gold. My understanding was that, as yet, The Ombudsman had not made a decision against Sentinel. I thought I'd submit a formal complaint anyway and used the CPP templates as a guide. Wrote 10 days ago and today received a payment for £600 in settlement refunded to my credit card account. This included the 8% interest payment. A larger amount than what I claimed and expected but, heh, not complaining. Strongly recommend anybody who had Sentinel Gold cover to get their letter off pronto.

You need to make your own complaint direct to Sainsbury's:

Little point relying on CPP to forward the complaint you made to them.
  • I've had a 'final' letter from CPP in which they say that although they sold me the policy in 1990 and believe I was mis-sold the policy, they will not be paying any compensation for the period 1990 to 2005

Since the refund scheme only ever covered the period post 2005, this isn't surprising.

Why do you keep posting about this as if it's a surprise?

  • Just wondered roughly how quickly people are receiving responses once they have sent their claims in? I heard on the news that only c.25% of people that could be eligible had bothered to reply so hopefully not too long to wait!

A few weeks, but response time is not guaranteed.

I received the forms in February in respect of my late husband but had no idea to what they related. I therefore sought and followed their instructions literally to the letter. The initial cheque was made out to him and I was then advised that this was their normal procedure, asked to return the cheque, and further advised that there would be another eight week delay to ensure that the cheque (now in their possession) was not cashed! I am still waiting for the replacement cheque so don't hold your breath!
