I received a refund for all payments from 2005. As I had the policy from 1991 I sent CPP a claim for payments 1991-2005. This was rejected. I then wrote to the Financial Ombudsman, the replied that "as CPP was not regulated prior to the 7th Jan.2004, we will not be able to pursue your complaint".
So the end of the line?0 -

Camhmt, I'm the same with a claim for my deceased MIL, they sent a letter addressed to my partner with cheque made payable to MIL!! Makes you wonder ehh. We sent the cheque back with letter and Death Certificate, they returned the DC by recorded delivery. Today we received a letter asking for "evidence of Mrs ******'s death i.e. Death Certificate" Seriously thats after a copy DC sent with the Claim Form originally and extract sent which they acknowledged receipt of and returned! Will sit and wait for their replay.0

Hi All
I have what appear to be 2 CPP policies one on a Barclaycard and ID protection on a Vanquis Card.
I tried to cancel the Barclaycard one sometime ago when I saw the amount on my statement only to be told it had renewed and I was too late and had to do it for the next year.
Spoke to Vanquis about the other and they said they can't cancel it.
I have no paperwork or anything for these policies (probably due to wrong address)
So today I phoned the 0800 number from Martins article as I haven't received anything. Initially they couldn't find me but managed to locate me under my old address.
The guy I spoke to said yes he could now see my Barclaycard policy but I couldn't claim as it was taken out in 2011 under the new rules.
He also said he couldn't see anything for the Vanquis details. This shows monthly at £6 with a phone no of 08448 484277 against it. Google gives me CPP for this.
I don't want or need these policies. Can I claim or is he right to say no and not send form.
Any advice ?
Thanks

Can I claim or is he right to say no and not send form.
However, while you won't be able to complain that the insurance was mis-sold you should still be able to cancel it once the renewal has expired.0 -
Many thanks to all on this thread - reading some of your comments re. pre-2005 policies prompted me to give the CPP helpline a ring earlier today. I got my claim form recently and sent it off a few weeks ago using one of Martin's templates - no response yet but it is still early days. On ringing the helpline just to get clarification on the policy, it turns out it relates to a completely different policy/card than I had thought in the first place and was actually taken out in mid-1997 and cancelled in mid-2006. They were so helpful and gave me the policy number and a contact number for the lender and told me exactly what to say. Spoke to the lender and they have lodged it as a complaint with the claim going back to 1997, so hopefully I'll hear back soon.
Not exactly expecting hundreds (:p) but anything is such a bonus as I truly would not have even made the call in the first place without reading all your helpful comments and replies
Thanks

Post 2005 claim - still waiting on.
Pre 2005 claim letter sent to Barclays (thanks to MSE for the template) and just received a cheque for £135 after only two weeks!
Thanks once again.Debts (As of 10th September):

Matched Betting Profits (From 05/11/06): £1026.45 (of which £214.20 is cashback)0 -
Still waiting and have been told that it could still be a further two weeks! It took three weeks for them to reply to my letter of complaint. Wouldn't any other company arrange for the replacement cheque to accompany this reply? I actually pity the staff who have to handle these calls.0
