  • Ok, so I rang Barclaycard as advised and they transferred me through to what she called the claims department. I ended up speaking to the same youngman at the cpp redress scheme as before!

The cpp helpline is an 0800 number Barclaycard was an 0844, which Im guessing I would pay through the nose to use and was on hold over 10 minutes.

The youngman at cpp is sending a letter to Barclaycard to inform them that it is their responsibility to sort my claim, but this will apparently take 10 days. Then I obviously have to wait for their reply. I'm aware that the claim has to be made by 30th August.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Write a formal mis-selling complaint to Barclaycard, then your complaint will be logged as being made in June. Explain the circumstances of you complaining to them rather than CPP.

As your complaint is not part of the CPP refund scheme, your deadline will not pass in August.

If you've not had a form contact the scheme team on 08000 834393.
Contacted the scheme and was told that I got my policy via MBNA and am not covered by it. Was advised to write to MBNA directly. In case anyone else is in this position their address is:

  • I'm very pleased to report, that I've just received a cheque for £236 re my CPP claim! Although they didn't have any record of my first application to reclaim(!), I received another form from them and forwarded this to them Recorded Delivery. It took a couple of weeks from posting the application form, to receiving cheque in the post.
  • I have received two letters both stating 'card protection policy'. I know I have had CPP for many years (potentially 15+!) and I really can't remember whether it covered me for the £100k worth of unauthorised transactions that occur after CPP is informed or the £5k before CPP is informed. I no longer have the documents. What should I state on the forms as my reason for compensation? Can anyone help please? Many thanks
  • Just to add, I recieved my check in mid April to the tune of £183.43, so definitely worth doing all the steps.

Even if you didn't vote, you still qualify so best of luck and happy money saving.

I have received a cheque for £102 today from CPP due to mis-selling of my Barclaycard card protection back in 2005.

There was apparently piece on You and Yours on R4 today which questioned the fact that Barclaycard (and others) should also refund any over-limit fees plus compound interestif taking out card protection placed you over your card limit.

I am sure that mine did take me over my limit and I was charged (because I remember the angry phonecall when it was automatically renewed after I had expressly told them the year before that they were to cancel it).

Does anyone know what I should do to claim the over-limit fees back? I don't have a clue how much they were but were probably about £35, which is a decent amount when interest is added. I no longer have my statements to hand.

    Thanks

So, no chance then? Thought it was worth asking. I only caught a tiny bit of the show today but I'm sure the presenter said that the banks had been ordered to pay back over-limit fees.

You'd have to be able to show that CPP charges alone took you over your credit limit. Unlikely, given the insurance was usually a nominal fee per month.
