If I were you I'd give it a try. If you don't ask you definitely won't get. Good luck hope you get the monies back.

You'd have to be able to show that CPP charges alone took you over your credit limit. Unlikely, given the insurance was usually a nominal fee per month.

They definitely did. It was taken out as one lump sum each year. I had no warning it would automatically renew and I remember exactly where I was standing when I phoned them to beg for them to refund the card protection as I'd been relying on the £25 left on my card to buy food. It was actually my lightbulb moment and I kept the letter I sent when I finally cancelled it to prove to them in case of any dispute.

I might try and ask for statements from the time. Thanks for your help.

Just wanted to add to the list of successes! Filled in the forms based on the info on MSE (thanks guys!) and today received a cheque for £191.75 for Card and £269.83 for ID! Awesome!
In response to some others who said they don't have the paperwork any longer, I didn't either so that doesn't seem to be a problem.
    Definitely worth the application! :j

I received £353.59 back from CPP for a refund going back to 2005.

    EVEN BETTER
I then sent a brief letter on the 30 May stating that I wanted to claim for money paid previous to 2005. I had no record of what I had paid or when I started paying. I sent this to my banks card customer services and received a letter back on 6 June saying they have credited my account with £181.07 !
