    It certainly is.

The FSA has "investigated" nothing. January 2005 was the date that regulation of insurance sales began.
FOS don't "negotiate", they adjudicate -there is more than a subtle difference.

Why are you being obnoxious to me? I may get some words slightly incorrect but at least what I have put is true and that has been confirmed today by the MSE newsletter so please if you can't be nice stay out of my conversation.

Didn't the FSA investigate and find widespread mis-selling of CPP's two main UK products between January 2005 and March 2011 and consequently in November 2012 issue its joint largest retail fine of £10.5 million to CPP?

As a result of this “investigation” didn't the Financial Conduct Authority reach an agreement with Card Protection Plan Limited (CPP) and 13 high street banks and credit card issuers to pay redress to customers who were mis-sold CPP’s Card Protection and Identity Protection policies.I.E.The CPP Redress Scheme?

Glad someone agrees with me! Looks like my use if the word "investigate" was correct after all. Thanks Placida for your support.

It's not me or other users of this forum you have to convince if you hope to obtain redress for a pre-2005 complaint.

My point was that no investigation was concluded on the 14th January 2005 as the other poster claimed. January 14th 2005 was the day regulation began, so it's not some arbitrary date.
  • I started a policy back in July 1998 with Beneficial Bank and kept the policy paid for and running up till now. I went through the process of claiming for mis selling and was eventually awarded £136 which was great But, and here is the tricky bit.

The policy was originally purchased through Beneficial bank back in 1998 and was sold on to John Lewis finance and now HSBC have it and yet when you eventually get through they all pass the buck, and yet i have never had a account with HSBC in my life (aged 46) and yet they have all the policy details (strange).

I have taken legal advice on this matter who advised me to argue to the FOS that it is very similar to PPI and should be looked at in that vein. But as it was taken out prior to 14 January 2005 NO one can be held to account for that period ? any ideas anybody ?

weeks ago i got a letter from cpp with something to fill in..read a bit of it and put it with my to do pile....
found it again, filled it in and left it on the arm of sofa to post...no stamp....
it "went" so thought my dd had posted it....
fishing around for something else found it under unmovable sofa! put a stamp on and posted it!.....
letter came on friday with a cheque for £93..bit of a result as i`ve never had a credit card and my only store card i burned several years ago!...all i had to fill in was the date and sign it as far as i can remember, nothing else because i don`t know anything else!
so definately send that letter off!..
oh and dd is now asking ME about it as her partner has chucked his letter!:T

Hi, saw Martin on Tv this morning, and have dug out a letter from cpp that came in Feb and would have ended up in the bin. I recognised the logo and thought I have seen that somewhere. Had a quick look through it. My question is, what is the best response to put in the "why do you want to be considered for compensation?" Thanks.

You can google Martin Lewis CPP template letter and this will then take you to all the information you need. There are two different kinds of products, either identity protection or card protection. Look for the one you are claiming for (it tells you on your claim firm) and then use what Martin Lewis has suggested.
  • To be perfectly honest, I couldn't really be bothered filling in the forms for reclaiming CPP (I thought it might be a waste of time and effort) but then when I noticed MSE already has pre-written responses to the CPP claim form, I overcame my apathy. I received a couple of letters from CPP, had a quick read on MSE, copied and pasted the template responses and voila, a refund of £235 a couple of weeks later!!

    Thanks MSE.
