  • Hi,

I recently made a claim (2014) with card guard, partly successful and partly not, following the theft of my bag. I would like to know if this will affect my ability to claim regarding mis-selling of the policy from 2005 or does the fact that the claim was outside of the mis-selling period mean it is irrelevant?

Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
  • Hi all

new to this so apologies if I mess up.

I have been trying to contact CPP re claiming through the 'scheme' for being mis-sold ID protection.

They have told me that as the sale was made with Gold Fish credit cards the scheme is not available as Gold Fish are not a 'member' of the scheme.

As I understand it Gold Fish were bought out by Barclaycard & they are a member of the scheme so I am very confused as to why my claim has been refused.

Has any one got any experience of this and can advise me what to do please?

    Many thanks

Goldfish cards are not included in the scheme, along with any sales of ID protection which date from prior to 2005. You'll have to complain direct rather than through CPP.

So you've claimed on the insurance and now want to complain that it was useless to you? Can't you see the irony there?

If you have valid mis-selling reasons then you can complain, but your recent claim weakens your case considerably.

    Hi Guys,

we were contacted by CPP as we were miss-advised by them.

My OH has had cover with them for a dogs age.

We filled in the paperwork over two months back and sent it off.

Anyone have an idea of their turn around times?

I don't want to hassle them un necessarily but also not leave it handing about either.

    thank you :D

****Sorry just found Martins help line number - they confirmed they sent it to the old address - they have to cancel & reissue the chq and that will be 6 wks ***
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...

That seems optimistic given that I have already been waiting that long for a cheque which I returned to them because it was addressed to my late husband to be re-issued. Hope you fare better.

I have a claim in process with CPP redress scheme for a Card Safe policy with M&S and, as advised by MSE, I have today written to them asking for my premiums + interest for the time when my policy started (1998) to the date when the FSA were involved (14th January 2005). Can you tell me how likely is it that I will get my premiums etc. refunded? I ask because my Mum sent the same sort of letter (i.e. asking for premiums to be refunded from her policy start date to the 14th January 2005) to M&S in the first instance, who told her that she needed to go direct to CPP, which she has done, but has not heard anything back and it's over the 8 weeks that is stated in the letter for them to respond.

As the CPP refund scheme only covers the period post 2005, your chances of a refund for anything prior to 2005 are nil.

So why did Martin Lewis give us a template letter for this? Also, if they were mis-sold post Jan 2005, then they certainly were as well pre 2005! I appreciate the FSA made a decision they have to pay out post 2005 but threatening them with the Financial Ombudsman must give them cause for concern. I am sure lots of people have used this template letter to reclaim pre 2005.

You have to send the template letter for pre 2005 complaints to the original seller of your insurance, not CPP.

Once again, the CPP redress scheme only covers the period post 2005.

You can threaten them with FOS as much as you like, but the Ombudsman has no jurisdiction!
