I have received a cheque from Barclays for cpp compensation but on reading the letter the total of the cheque is after 20 per cent tax has been taken out! is this right?
  • Just writing to say thanks so much for the guidance and templates given on this site for CPP claims.

Received two cheques today totalling £915 ( card and id protection for my husband and card protection for me).

Chuffed to say the least :)

It's right if you are a tax payer. If you are not a tax payer, then you can apply to HMRC for a refund.
  • I just want to say a very BIG THANK YOU for your guidance on CPP reclaims - I've now received 2 cheques for a policy I tried to cancel in 2008 and ended up not only renewing, but also taking out an ID policy that I was scared into!!! :j

Thanks for the guidance etc. Dad received a cheque today in respect of my late mum's claim (she passed away in 2005) for compensation (he hasn't had his yet)......guess what even though they had death cert and probate form and accompanying letter they made it out to my mum...for heavens sake. I'm hoping it gets sorted ok if I return cheque etc...groannnn.

Still waiting for mine. Seems they have to wait to ensure that the cheque which you have returned to them isn't presented (yes the one that they now have)!

Just phoned them...holey moley what an outfit. They don't know why they sent cheque to my late mum..as they can see they had all the relevant paperwork. I am going to return cheque and see what they do next. She didn't have a clue why my dad hasn't had his yet (both claims were sent by myself the same date).
  • Amazing - followed MSE advise to complete forms. Result! We got £1205.00 back.

I have had trouble finding an address for the above, as they were taken over. The CPP redress scheme advised I had a policy but it was 2001-2003 so to write to them. the link and address are as follows if anyone else wants it
found it and will repost elsewhere but in case someone else is having probs its under this link
    http://www.citibank.co.uk/personals/cards/cards/feedback/egg.htm#4
and the address is Canada Square Operations, PO Box 4903, Worthing BN99 3AR
  • Thanks to MSE
Sent my claim to CPP on May 7 using your template/guidance and yesterday received a cheque for £104.02 which included interest at 8%!
