The calls go from the allowance and will be 40p only after the allowance was used.

Virgin mobile dont have a tariff for calling to abroad, so the allowance is not going to be used.

My goodness woman. How many times do you have to be told? It is not an International call. It is a UK to UK call.
You, on Three, pay to receive the call.
  • There has been a misunderstanding. My enquiry was how my partner (virgin SIM) in UK would fare when ringing a Three UK sim in Italy. That is not a UK to UK call as far as Virgin is concerned. It is not within the allowance, so I was concerned what charges would be made. Virgin has told me it will be 40p per minute.

Feel at Home should allow me to receive it without charge on a Three SIM in Italy.

Why have you affirmed what she has written? Unless you are just referring to her not paying to receive the call.

There is no misunderstanding on my part. I have never heard of such a story. It is a UK number to UK number call. So it is included within his UK Across Network allowance, no matter what they tell you. The advisor who told you otherwise sounds like a dunce.

Your links are to calls to a non UK SIM.

This is because the person making the call pays exactly the same as if you were in the UK,

f you are in the UK and phone a UK number roaming , you will only be charged your normal rate or it will be included in your minutes.
This is because your network has no idea where the other phone is. All it does is pass the call to the other network.

And this is effectively art of a general principle or practice that a caller pays the tariff to the number dialled, irrespective of conditions at the destination, roaming, call diversion, PABX or whatever.

So the same applies if someone calls a mobile which the owner has diverted to another number, and to those occasional hoaxes about pressing some number when talking to a disreputable call centre then being charged £5 a minute
  • Gotta Say, I love all the "fanfare" at this "new" feel at home thing...

Nobody in the media seems to be mentioning that this is basically a U-Turn by 3, in that they're effectively resurrecting 3 like home!

Regardless, I'm bloomin' chuffed. I'm heading home to Ireland on Saturday for a week so this makes my life infinitely easier than having to faff with swapping sims and stuff.

I wonder why they've brought it back? Presumably it's to make themselves look good in advance of all roaming charges being abolished next year! :D
