    Depending on your current SIM/Tariff:

My SIM is PAYG on Three which I have had for 3 months now. I have had All in One on the sim before.

Internet Weekly would be most convenient, but I don't see it in the current Price List or on the available add ons.

I can buy the Internet Daily for 50p. Otherwise I should pay £50 for 500MB on the 3.co.uk terms. 321 isnt a plan for the purposes of Feel at Home I believe.

Feel At Home means that you can use your UK plan or Add-on allowances to:

    call the UK
    text the UK
    use data on your phone.

If you run out of your allowances.
If you go over your allowances, you’ll be charged at roaming rates that are lower than normal. These rates are:

20p per minute to make calls
    7p per text
    10p per MB.

Or 45.8p per MB if Feel at Home is not applied. Does anyone know in what circumstances this rate is charged in Italy?

The free data is discontinued unless on 3pay according to the details on the 3 site.

    .

Here is what i would do. Top up £20. Buy the all in 10 which gives you 100 mins, 3000 texts and 500Mb data for 1 month.

When you're abroad in Italy you can use the 100 Mins to call any UK number. The 5000 texts to text any uk number. And the 500mb as your data allowance in Italy.

The remaining £10 can be used to make local calls and texts at 20p a min and 7p a text.

You would only pay 10p per megabyte if you go over the 500mb.

You may find £5 in italy could be enough so you may just want to to top up £15 or something.

Buy what suits you. If you can buy the Internet Daily and it's just a short trip of a few days, then do that.
  • Thanks, one further consideration.

If my partner rings me from UK (Virgin sim) will the 3 sim in Italy be within his allowance, or an out of bundle call?
Normally Virgin would treat it as an international call.

Your partner calls to a UK mobile. It doesn't matter where this mobile is.

    No, normally they wouldn't.

Have a look at this link. Virgin will charge 10p connection, and 40p per minute for any call (mobile or landline) if it's an out of bundle call. Will Virgin see this call as a Three UK call or a Tre IT call?

Actually its more complicated. On the virgin tariff it will either cost 40p or 90p per minute to connect.

I can only repeat, for a person calling to a UK mobile it doesn't matter where this mobile is: in UK or abroad.

I just got through to virginmobile. They agree that these pages are conflicting, and that 40p per minute is the correct charge. The 90p per minute charge had to be changed after recent EU regulations.

Feel at Home does not apply as all calls placed to a mobile abroad are charged at 40p per minute. The Three UK rates are very good by comparison.

Crosspost with grumbler - yes the calls are 40p whether connected in UK or Europe.

The calls go from the allowance and will be 40p only after the allowance was used.
  • The question of what does it cost to call a UK Mobile roaming abroad from the UK comes up time and time again on this site. The answer never changes . It costs the same to call it whether its in UK or otherwise. Also the call is included in any inclusive minutes as your calling a UK Mobile not a Intl Number. If your actually paying 40p a minute to do so I would be looking at a cheaper way to do so.:D
