Christmas Hampers 2013

Love the Candis gift link, now I'm planning for next year x
You're welcome!
Pretty little white hamper baskets for a few pounds, shred, shrink wrap for hampers.
I love it
I'm thinking about a bigger than normal pot of gold for my uncle. There will definitely be whisky in there and scratch cards.
And a foodie/marmalade one for my aunt and uncle. He loved the marmalade I made and I found a nice marmalade knife in either fortnums or harrods. It was £14 but that, a bag of reduced oranges, a handful of sugar, a tablespoon or so of whiskey and some recycled bonne mamman jam jars and they're sorted. I could put in a few packs of bread mix that we were getting for 9p.
If I end up doing a separate present then I'll leave the marmalade knife.
I could give my aunt a pamper hamper with some fancy lotions and a pedicure/manicure. It wouldn't cost that much other than in time
This is exciting stuff0 -
Thought I'd share my hamper with you. OK I admit it's not strictly a hamper but I'm using it for a small under a fiver gift. I'd like to think the box gives it a finished effect IYSWIM.
I bought the cake boxes from Home bargains (3 for 89p) = 30p
Choc mug gift set (it came with mini whisk/choc/mug) = £2.50
Chocolate sachets x4 = £1
Ferrero rocher = 50p
calender (card factory 3 for £1) = 33p
total cost £4.63 including box. The tissue paper I've had since last year and can't remember the price of that. I could put some more chocolate in there at the side to make it up to the £5 mark and a ribbon - job done.0 -

Can anyone suggest a hamper idea for my nan and grandad who are both 80 but could easily be taken for in their 70's.
They travel quite a bit so was thinking of a wash bag each but. To sure what else or what to put in the wash bags!:TADVISE-"I advise you get help"

there's the usual
small selection of toiletries
flight socks
luggage tags
suitcase straps
eye mask
ear plugs
money belt
then maybe
book
puzzle book and pen (for those hanging around times)
notebook (for jotting down those important details)
some kind of food - I know a bit odd but people do take away tea bags and biscuits on holiday so maybe some of those small individual packets
slippers - the type that fold up really small
scarf or pashmina type thing
a calender with pictures of where they've been on holiday in the past - I'm thinking the type of calender where you add your own photos onto it
errr... run out of ideas now.
... had an idea along the food idea. (I do think of other things sometimes) could you do a 'take away' bag. so find a large bag (flight cabin size bag? small suitcase ? bag with travel pics on it?) - and then put various take away 'dishes' inside - like tea bags, jar of coffee, biscuits etc, the toiletry bag with a few things inside. The smaller things could be put into plastic take away boxes and wrapped up.
Might be good, might be naff it's just an idea. I know people who would be horrified if I gave them home made biscuits, but if I wrap them in cellophane and say I bought them off a boutique christmas stall in town it's a different matter.0 -

Crumblepie has really good ideas....how about sunscreen (you always need sunscreen ) and a photo wallet with pictures of all their loved ones. If you want to go high tech and they will appreciate it, you can get them a digital photo frame (more pictures, less space).0 -
B&m bargains have some peppermint foot masks in for £1 they are fab !0

The photo wallet is a great idea. Or in the same kind of thing a mini photobook with pictures of the family in it ? The ones with paper covers that are photo size (6x4inches) and only have 20 pages or so.
I'm thinking something like this (just a google) http://www.bonusprint.co.uk/pages/landscape-s-book-soft-cover.htm?level=2&sub=70 -
madeforcheapshopping wrote: »To start off with, the afternoon tea hamper sounds delicious:D, I'm sure your FIL and his girlfriend will love it. How about a book/recipe book for tea making. I have seen a couple on Amazon or you could print out recipes and make a book of sorts yourself. Other than that, I think you have the perfect gift.:T
You could go crazy on the chocolate hamper idea.....There are dozens of items with chocolate in them. The question is do you want only edibles or a mix of non perishable items in the hamper. Once you decide, I believe MSE'rs would be able to help you get a fab hamper put together.
ThanksGlad you like the afternoon tea hamper!
Just have to start buying it! Love the idea for the tea book as well. May print a few recipes out and maybe some sayings about tea.
I think the chocolate hamper will just be a little £5 - £10 hot chocolate hamper... Will just have to have a think about it.Married 23rd June 2012Trying to pay off some capital on our mortgage & save some pennies for our futureSealed pot challenges started 08/10/13!Sealed Pot #1434Virtual Sealed Pot #1100
