Wondering if I can call on your expertise. :)

I have got all the main components for my bath-themed hamper and have custom designed tags [rubber ducks, with santa hats and candy canes]. I want to individually wrap the items, possibly with tissue paper, and then loop the tags around them with thread or ribbon. The tags will have hints as to the items they are attached to.

As I will have to transport the hamper, and I don't trust myself with cellophane, I want it to be in a box. Any ideas on the sort of boxes I should be looking out for - from your experiences? I think it will have to be quite big to accommodate everything I have to put in. :)

Edit: Just read through all the pages and found some good ideas. I will have to start popping into charity shops etc - seeing what I can find. I will also keep my eyes peeled on those lidded boxes in places like Home Bargains. :)

    Hi
New to posting on here, but came across your chat and found it really helpful so thanks to all.
I am hoping to do another hamper for my best friend, she's had a really tough year and we're planning a girlie holiday to New York which we're both saving for. I'm wondering if I can do a new york themed hamper.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in Advance

Just to let you know, I was in Prim@rk yesterday and they had some little "mini reed diffusers" with a New York theme. They had testers out too and it actually smelt really nice - I picked one up for my brother. And, only a £1. :)

I have just been through my christmas store and i've found 7 gifts that hadnt been allocated to hampers for grown ups, so I have just managed to knock £35 off my xmas list, each of the pressies only cost about £2 in last years sale so I guess i've saved £56 in total, maybe, I think, or i may have worked that out wrong

Are you wanting ideas for hampers or ideas in general?

Is the 9yo boy into Minecraft? This annual is slightly over your budget but I found it in Sainsburys for £4 just over a week ago. If you want it, snap it up though. Minecraft stuff goes quickly and then sells on ebay for extortionate prices. :(

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Minecraft-Of.../dp/1405267674

Or at Home Bargains they had different annual like The Annoying Orange for £2.99.

The 9 and 11 year old girls I'd find the easiest. What are they into, 'pink and sparkly'? 'One direction'? It was no longer on at my local Claire's but recently they have been doing buy 5 items for £5 off selected gondalas. My dd was buying really decent bits, 1D watch and a make up kit that had been £13 originally! Worth looking to see if it's still on at yours.

19yo girl you might be able to do a scaled down version of the 'girls night out' hamper mentioned on here. What cheaper shops can you get to? Eg B&M, Home Bargains, poundland.

16yo boys eek  Boys especially can become harder as they become older to buy for. We resorted to giving money for last few years for DH's godson and am thankful as he turned 18 earlier this year we no longer need to get anything. One of the few things I do remember buying him was something Pot Noodle related :D A ceramic pot or twisting fork, but they can be dear as boxed sets. Haven't see any so far this year. What are their hobbies/lifestyles, you might be able to get something connected to that.

4yo boys I'll leave the suggestions to someone else. Not cos they are difficult to buy for but cos it's a long time since I bought for a male of this age so I don't really remember what they are into.

    Great ideas, Spendless!

Nelly11, I know my nephew was into Legos, pirates, cars, boats, superheroes (Power rangers, back then) at 4yrs. You could look up http://www.wickeduncle.co.uk/ for ideas that you can then find cheaper. There are also PJ's, a mug with sweets in them, stickers, stationary items - pencils, crayons, etc

Boots has a £1 offer going on, I think. You can get pampering items for the girls.

If the older boys are into gaming, you could get a pre-owned game for them (This is a mine field I would advise you to thread with caution  lol). You can get some games under £5.

    Thank you. :)

I have just bought some cream tissue paper to use lining the box, and some black tissue paper to wrap around each individual component. I have also made some custom gift tags - with "christmas" rubber ducks on, which I am going to write hints on and attach to each component... That way, I can then wrap the actual box normally - probably sticking with my usual black and silver style - without worrying that all the different elements will be revealed as soon as he opens it... Hopefully it will look good when I've finished with it. :)

    Chocolate potatoes?
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

4 year old boy - trains, cars, spiderman, batman, transformers. B&M have some spiderman gloves for £1.49 and some spiderman/batman socks for 99p that are pretty good, can usually find single cars for 50p-ish in supermarkets and colouring books/stickers are always cheap and well used?
