B0llocks. You were just being catty. :rotfl:

You could just as easily have said she took a holiday to visit someone particular. No need for 'the death row' stuff or the 'never met him' stuff.

Lol nope I think your being petty. I was explaining the situation as it is, I never said anything that wasn't true.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Well not necessarily to the receiver - they can be a burden of guilt and obligation.
I can appreciate the loving intention behind a gift and sincerely thank them for that, but I no longer feel the need to keep something I find neither beautiful nor useful.
As an extreme example, I would find it unbearable to have to display cheap gaudy items I consider tasteless tat in my home or really something beautiful that just wasn't my taste.

OP It is actually very hard for people to tell others, "I don't like what you buy me."

And sometimes people have a light bulb moment with all their clutter and overnight can realise they no longer need to collect /hoard these things as part of their identity and want to let go of it all.

I can understand but she had a lot of them on display and she said she collected them and as for the bracelets she wouldn't need them on display. I should take it as a compliment that they sell.

I was given a Lladro ornament by a friend as a birthday gift, I know how expensive they are but it is simply not to my taste. I do have it on display though:o but, really, I would rather not!!

That's really sweet of you. I got a gift from a friend for our wedding and it was hard for me to say it wasn't to our taste but she told me to exchange it for something we wanted. I definitely felt better being honest then going behind her back.

How do you know the details of her ebay profile

It's her exact name, which is unusual so when I noticed the item which looked exactly what I got her and clicked on it I knew it was hers.

We're not talking here about someone selling things as they are decluttering things they've had for some time.

Personally if it really were not to my taste then it would not necessarily go on display but sell it never.

I think a lot of people are being a little harsh on the OP. I would feel hurt and a bit upset to see (several?) of my gifts all up for sale on Ebay. I presume the OP thought that the "friend" really liked these gifts thus why she sent them.

If it were me I would first stop sending the gifts and if the friend asks why (though the OP says she hasn't been in contact for 8 months so this might not be likely) then just calmly explain why. Though if she did ask why then it obviously shows that she is doing it to cash in on the gifts, if she doesn't ask it might just be a case of selling things she doesn't like or use anymore.

I would never sell homemade items as that is mean after someone has taken time and love over them.

As for other gifts then its really no different to re-gifting which lots of people do. For my sons Naming Day he was given 10 silver money boxes, it was wasteful to have that many so I sold them on Ebay to buy something he actually needed.
