Perhaps she thinks you have ghastly taste in gifts so politely thanks you then flogs them?

She lives quite a way so haven't visited for 8 months

So for all you know she might not even collect whatever the thing is anymore?

I think pinkshoes has hit the nail on the head, whatever it is you're giving her, she doesn't like it! Would you rather it was shoved in the back of a cupboard or given/sold to a home where it might actually be displayed?

My 'friend' has sold quite afew things on eBay that I bought her.

This has made me question our friendship if she can do this.

How much of a friendship is it really? Does she spend time making nice things for you or seeking out presents for you or is it all a bit one-sided?
  • Ask her! Never mind texting or vaguebooking, have an adult conversation - ask if her tastes have changed, if there is something she'd prefer as a gift in future... or if you should stop buying her gifts altogether.

I'm getting more annoyed looking through her feedback as it seems she has sold quite a bit I have given her.

She lives with her mum, no kids and has quite a bit of benefits coming in so she isn't hard up!

Booking a £2000 holiday further backs that up.

She obviously "likes" your presents because they are good enough to sell and bring in the money to pay for a holiday that many working people wouldn't be able to afford.

Is the £2000 holiday something special (eg going to a wedding, or some other special trip)? Perhaps she is desperately trying to raise the money for it, even treasured items. Regardless, I agree with the posters who said that a gift is a gift - if it's conditional (you must keep and display this) then it's not really a gift.

Would you rather she threw them away? People don't keep gifts forever, I very much doubt that you have never thrown away a gift, if its still in good condition why not sell it.

My understanding is that the OP's friend collects the items that she has given her. That is very generous of the OP, but collecting is a very personal endeavour. She perhaps wants to sell the items so she can buy something that she collects that she has been looking out for a long time. She is the expert, or regards herself as an expert in what she is collecting, that could be very important to her.

Having said that, if she is on benefits, she perhaps should spend her (our money) on essentials and not on collecting, but that is another matter.

The holiday is one she has every year to visit her death row bf family, the bf she has never met.

No I post them to her via courier or if we meet up then we exchange but I haven't seen her for a while as its usually me making the effort so put my foot down now.

Like I said they are items she collects so would think she likes them. If she didn't like them I would rather she was either honest with me and then gave them to charity but selling them is just a kick in the teeth to me honest.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
