    Very good :D

    To be 100% honest, this isn't just an internet thing for me, I spend a lot of my working life debunking German car myths, I have colleagues that used to think they were good (now all converted by me) and I often have to educate customers how not to waste their money.
    I've still to see where you've "debunked" anything here. Lot of opinions but nothing of any substance.

    This is going to sound desperate, but that Top 10 isn't compiled by the great man Honest John - it's signed off by 'David Ross', someone he appears to 'rent' from here;

    If you look through Honest John's own answers section, almost every time someone mentions buying a Golf he tries to advise them to pick something else - he has the same view as me, the right one.

    I'll pop some in here;

    He also says that his favourite car at the moment is the BMW 3 series.

    You're too late late to the party to start with that - read the thread if you truly want to know the answer.
    Nope, you haven't answered this yet, I suggest you re-read the thread yourself because I can't see anywhere where you've shown this mysterious, perfect car that never has any "issues".

    So you're not going to answer that then.

    Also, I've just noticed your advice to "go for it" with regards an Alfa Romeo in another post, yet you have the nerve to be critical of the reliability of German marques. I think that speaks volumes about the kind of "knowledge" you have.

    Haha, so you're one of the great unwashed that think Fiat's are cr*p, and VW's are bulletproof.

    The two myths are pretty equal, poor Fiat get's an undeservedly poor public perception, and VW get the polar opposite. The truth is both products are about on par, again with Fiat being the loser and VW being the winner.

    At least people don't pay silly money for used Fiat cars.

    I don't "think" anything I just go on most of the reliability indexes/tables that get posted that show Alfa Romeo's down near the bottom.

    Okay, I'll answer it.

    The best cars come from Japan, with Hyundai-Kia (South Korea) nipping at their heels.

    There are some exceptions, such as Nissan models that have too much Renault mixed in, and Mazda's that use Peugeot/Ford engines.

    Most European cars have electrical gremlins, and poorly designed/cheaply produced components, many of which are plastic, when they should be metallic.

    The French and the Italians get stick for their electrical issues, people 'ignore' the same faults on German cars, for reasons that I struggle to understand. I have worked very closely with brands from all over the World, and few have components as cheap and nasty as VAG. Almost every part is made in South Africa/Brazil/China/Mexico (as are many of the complete cars) - is anyone here not familiar with the phrase of not being able to make a silk purse from a sow's ear?

    In summary, please consider this.

    Cars are all about electronics - engine management, SRS, ABS, ESP, the million and one toys that they have nowadays, bluetooth, satnav, park assist...

    Is it really that surprising that the Countries that bring us Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Samsung, LG and so on, are the best at making trouble free examples?

    I'm nearly bored now.

    Am I to assume that you would now rather have a Fiat than an Audi?

    p.s. I realise that Alfa were 2nd from bottom, but the guy in the other thread likes the look of them and they can be bought for peanuts - none of us think they are World-beaters.

    p.p.s. Land Rover were absolute bottom again (11 years running I think), I'll bet my last penny you'd buy one!
