Filled the tank of the golf literally to the brim and reset the trip computer to zero across the board.
Car currently says averaging 60.4mpg over the weekend there and a predicted range of 720 miles but it'll be another 10 days or so before i'm filling it up again.
Will take plenty of pics for [STRIKE]the non believer[/STRIKE] TradePro and work out the percentage inaccuracy.0 -

If the engines don't offer similar performance it is also not a fair comparison.
This is wildly off-topic and I'm about to head off on holiday for a bit so I won't debate this further for now.
Sorry, previous cars and present all took about 50 litres from fill to full , fuel tanks have not doubled in sizeYou scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
anotherbaldrick - traffic conditions, temperature, use of air-con, will have an effect on the economy of your vehicle too, even if you stick to the same route at the same time of day. To day that you drive exactly the same, and go 21 days between fills instead of 10, tells me you're exaggerating or not measuring or keeping records correctly.0

Still going strong on the same tank of fuel. Have done 750 miles on it so far with about 75 miles range left. The overall trip computer was showing 68.0 this morning and has been relatively static on that over the last few days. I stupidly reset the trip this morning due to fat fingers, but i'm going to run with what the trip computer was saying at 68mpg ish.
Not at work tomorrow so it will probably be over the weekend before i need fuel. Will fill it to the brim and calculate the MPG based on the miles covered on the tankful and the amount of fuel it took to fill it, and will compare that to the 68mpg that the trip was showing.
Based on previous experience in the 2010 passat i'm expecting about 3% innaccuaracy which means i'm expecting about 65mpg on the actual calculation of fuel used. "Official" figure is 62mpg.0 -

I *very nearly* bought the saloon version new in 2007 - beautiful car. It was pipped to the post by a 535d M Sport though in terms of drive, and power.0 -

Managed to get 805.3 miles out of the tank full of diesel.
Refilled it to the brim
And it took 55.15 litres
55.15 litres is 12.13 gallons.
805.3 miles / 12.13 gallons = 66.39 miles per gallon. :j
I'm going to take the trip computer reading of 68.0 over the 750 or so miles before i stupidly reset it as not changing for the 55 miles so 68.0/66.39 = 1.0363 which equals 3.63% inaccuracy. This is consistent with what i'd seen before on my 2010 Passat Bluemotion and also even as far back as my 1999 Passat 1.9 TDI.
Taken from parkers.co.uk, the 'official' MPG for the car is 62mpg.
This is a standard 2012 1.6 TDI 105BHP S, NOT the Bluemotion or "Bluemotion Technology". I would be expecting an easy 10mpg more than this if it were the Bluemotion car.0
