I'm writing to ask for help as I'm in a difficult situation. A little disabled child has moved next door and his condition means he constantly screams loudly.
I have every sympathy for the family and the little one but I can't sleep at night and I'm getting stressed during the day. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can cope with the noise level. and I am also wondering what help I can offer to the family, who must be overwhelmed at times as they have to live with it 24/7 whereas I can pop out to escape it whenever I fancy
Absolutely :T * with a few add-ons*I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -

I disagree with the terminology used by the OP and I have already said they need to show more compassion to the family but it does work both ways I'm afraid in life.
I sincerely wish there were more people like you in the world / on this forum.
I hope everyone takes a second to consider this poster's approach to the situation and dial all the hate back a notch.0 -
I think most of you are focusing too much on the emotional aspect of this and are glossing over the fact that this person is being affected by intrusive noise day in, day out.
Noise is noise, it really doesn't matter where it originates. If it's bothersome then it's bothersome, regardless.
However, the child can't change so the OP will have to. Whether that change means a change in attitude or a change of address, only she can decide.
And before you all jump on me for not berating the OP too, I have a disabled son so feel perfectly qualified to comment. I've been at the end of receiving complaints over his behaviour when he was growing up, despite me not being able to change things, I was always able to understand things from another's pov.Herman - MP for all!1 -
No im sorry but I don't agree because as I have said this little boy cannot help it.
Maybe the op should ask the council to help with some sort of soundproofing? but she was so derogatory about the way she spoke about the family and that is not nice at all because it is bloody hard work looking after a child with a disability never mind having a neighbour moaning about the noises her son makes..gave up smoking 07/01/09 :j:j:j0 -

She referred to instances where she was awoken at 1:30 am and another where the occupier's friend was so !!!!!!ed he couldn't stand up in the communal gardens... I'd be interested to know how you'd explain that in a way you consider isn't derogatory if you think the way she said it was.0 -

She came across as someone who was at the end of her tether , was frustrated and not able to be as pc as some would have liked, imo.
Yes her posts were terse, but if she's at the end of her rope then it's not really surprising is it? After all we're not taking about a weekend party or two, we're talking about constant every day noise.
That said, it would have been wiser for her to take a deep breath and consider how best to word things.Herman - MP for all!0 -
The tenants could be breaking terms of their tenancy contract by their behaviour and noise levels generated (after 10/11pm for example). The lettings agency/Landlord should be more helpful.0

I don't think you really are not compassionate to the OP, just angry at the moment which is fair enough0 -
We live in a nice area, right nextdoor to the safari park,
now you want
to hear the weird and strange noises that come from that park.......especially
the lions, be it tea time, middle of night or early morning.
You do get
used to it.
Right I posted this before, and I received a nasty pm (I've reported it) saying that i'm disgusting to refer a disabled child to a animal.
If it came across as that in my post, then I really did not mean it.
I mean't that strange and unusual noises be it night or day can be a bit daunting at 1st, but you get used to it.0 -

I am surprised that anyone inferred that from your post. I agree with what you wrote. I was brought up rurally, and when I went to stay with Grandma for a week, who lived on a busy main road, it took me a few nights to zone out the traffic noise. That's how I understood your post, and I agree.I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30
