I'm not sure how the noise could be classed as anything else?

The noise is loud, instrusive, without warning and distressing to the occupier of a surrounding property, which I'm pretty sure meets the objective definition of noise pollution.

I totally see that the OP could have been more diplomatic in their initial approach but I also think shes been totally sandbagged by the PC brigade and I really think if she had said the noise was coming from any other source she would be receiving much better advice than she is currently getting on the thread.

I think that's partly because OP put emphasis on the 'animal noises' and a generally distasteful, disrespectful tone when referring to the child, showing no empathy with the situation of the family below. It's this which is objectionable and which has therefore become the focus of the tread.

Do you have compassion to the OP's situation?

NO I don't actually because this little boy cannot help it can he?
he is not what they call a "normal" boy being loud he is a disabled child who probably makes these noises either out of frustration or or joy

It is not like the tenants are playing loud music or partying all night they are taking care of their disabled son !!!!!

Thats a stretch considering the OP specifically refers to two instances at night inclusing one at 1:30 AM and another in which the occupant's friend was so !!!!!!ed he couldn't even stand up.

And had the OP posted purely about these times, I would have maybe been more sympathetic.

Perhaps they need to choose their battles....

I retired young through ill health.
Why should I move when I have been settled here for so long.
If you heard the noises, perhaps you would have more sympathy.
Who wants to be woken up in the middle of the night?

We live in a nice area, right nextdoor to the safari park,

now you want to hear the weird and strange noises that come from that park.......especially the lions, be it tea time, middle of night or early morning.

You do get used to it.

  • Awful, OP you seem quite a horrible person. Rather than being a tiny bit empathetic with their horrible situation you appear to want to antagonise them.

There is only on neighbour from hell in this situation and it appears to be you. What do you really expect as the outcome here?

Perhaps none of you with such wonderful social consciences are in the same position. The noise goes on all day.
    It is very stressful.
You are all so sanctimonious but perhaps you don't have to listen to it!

Try living in the house with the noise right next to your ear all day...

My son is severely autistic and makes loud sounds 'like tortured animals',usually when stressed, sometimes when excited. We left our last house due to the noise from the neighbours leaving him constantly stressed and they had the nerve to cause uproar over his noise in reaction!!!

We moved to a semi in a quite street.Soundproof the house so HE didn't get stressed by external noises (disability worker recently stated it was to protect the neighbours-I'll be putting her right on that!).He can still be heard when he does do it,more so when the windows (with special restricters) are open.

I have older foster carers on unattached side.An elderly couple on attached side.

Elderly couple complained once as it scared them and they didn't know what was going on.Other side have never complained as they understand.

In fact, most of my street has seen my son hurt me,bash Windows, scream and harm himself. But you know what? Not one of them moans. They are all friendly, know it's not his fault and will try to help with things if they can. Many of them try to 'engage' with ds by saying hello, talking to him about their dogs,my neighbours stops him to talk about his plants and tell him to water them.He even tried to get into the house to help once when I was being hurt-still accepts my son though.

I understand you don't like the noise, trust me parents thoroughly understand that, but there isn't much you can do and it is not their fault.Maybe if you were a little like my neighbours you may get a little pleasure out of knowing that special child..

I have compassion for the parents, who have to deal with people being rude and hurtful towards their child and themselves because of something none of the three have any control over.

This is a disabled child we're talking about, not some "thing" that should be shunned so other people don't get disturbed or bothered by them.

Its sad to see so much anger on the thread. I'm sure its all been caused by the OP's nasty style of writing. She hasn't shown any compassion or understanding. So much so that I wouldn't be surprised if she was a troll. She's so unbelievably ignorant.

However, suppose she had put the question in a different way. eg: -

I'm writing to ask for help as I'm in a difficult situation. A little disabled child has moved next door and his condition means he constantly screams loudly.

I have every sympathy for the family and the little one but I can't sleep at night and I'm getting stressed during the day. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can cope with the noise level.

Then wouldn't posts focus on ways to help the OP in the situation.

"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say. :)

Where the noise comes from is irrelevant, you should still show compassion to the OP for the disturbance to the peace they may incur.

I disagree with the terminology used by the OP and I have already said they need to show more compassion to the family but it does work both ways I'm afraid in life.
