It's not just a man thing. In my last job I sat next to a collegue who slobbered and slurped her food, and it was revolting. In the end I resorted to wearing headphones when I had to sit through her lunch, or I made myself scared.
Fortunately I'm not married to a slobberer or a shoveller, but I would never form a relationship with somebody whose eating habits made me feel ill.
My mum always eats with half the food hanging out of her mouth, and chomps and slurps noisily - as a result I try to avoid eating with her if I can. Although I'm too embarrassed to pass comment, and in her case I don't think it would make any difference.0 -
I think you have to talk to him about it otherwise you'll have a lifetime of it and in a few years time want to stick the fork in him.
Lots of people aren't taught normal basic table manners (eat quietly, mouth closed, sensible amount at a time, it's not rocket science) and it's such a shame as it's a social liability for them. Some eaters really gross other people out.
How do his parents eat? Like this or normally? If they do it, then he's never been taught that it's not ok and probably doesn't realise you are sitting there cringing, so a tactful chat should do the trick. If they don't, then they tried to teach him and failed, so I can't see you'll have any luck either and will either have to get used to it, eat in another room, or don't marry him![STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex. I hope you understand
