A lot of good posts were deleted last night, even the non troll ones.
Mine asking if the OP had to request a lock was deleted too for some reason.0 -
There were so many of Manic-Jaq's posts to delete others probably got caught by mistake.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I disagree, deodorant is butane which is a nasty gas. also why are cancer rates so high, all these perfumes and chemical cosmetics. I hate the invasive, chemical smells, honestly, I feel like I'm going to explode
The reason why cancer rates appear to be higher than they once were is for the simple reason that people live longer than they did 1000 years ago, due to the development of antibiotics which have decreased death rates from infectious diseases. Therefore cells, and DNA, replicate more than they used to and subsequently there is a higher chance of mutations developing which could potentially lead to cancer.0 -

It's also very naive to imagine that everything was good and wholesome in the past - red lead to colour cheese, chalk in the watered down milk (which may have come from cows with TB or be contaminated with muck), copper to make the butter a better colour, strychnine in the beer and all sorts of dangerous stuff used as medicines!0 -

I didn't mean that, i just meant that it isn't solely to do with chemicals. More a combination of genetics and environment. Cancer is a multi-faceted disease. Plus i did say that most people died early due to infectious diseases which isn't exactly wholesome! People died before they had a chance to develop cancer0 -
The OP would have been extremely fortunate to have reached his 12th birthday - and then would probably have been working in conditions where perfumes would have been welcomed. As for a room of his own - he'd have been lucky to have had a corner where he could sleep on his own without bedbugs as his only companions!0

Sorry, I phrased that post badly - I'm in complete agreement with you about the early deaths from infection and accidents and childhood diseases. A lot of cancers occur because we've lived long enough for them to develop.
I meant that early20s was being naive with this idea that we're exposed to chemicals now while previous generations lived in a clean, natural world.
Just having water brought to the house in lead pipes caused a lot of damage to people.0 -

Ah i see. Yes i completely agree. The fact is that there are always dangers, be it natural or otherwise, in our lives. I do sympathise with the OP for having such a phobia but they are not doing themselves any favours by being so horrible to their mother about it and to be honest i still don't understand how they function in the public when almost everybody wears deodorant/perfume.0 -
They also didn't know about cancer then of course. You got ill, you died.
Now we know so much about it, how to detect it, treat it, where is spread to. Most people who die of old age have cancer to some degree somewhere in their body if doctors go looking for it, something like 85% time of death have bowel cancer they didn't know about.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
