I suspect Hermia is talking about Exposure Therapy.

This sounds like it might be just what you need OP.

And can you imagine telling company cleaners that they have to clean a huge office block using lemon juice and bicarb! I think you'd end up with a mop shoved up your jacksy.

    :rotfl:
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Thanks! I couldn't remember what it was called. It was an amazingly quick therapy bearing in mind how long my friend had been pretty much housebound.

I had a very informal version of this, it does work!

I had a phobia of wasps since one stung me on the lip as a teenager, then one summer a wasp's nest appeared right outside my bedroom at uni and there were hundreds of the beggars. After about 5 stings and becoming an incredibly proficient wasp murderer, I don't bat an eyelid at them anymore!

If your Mum is a bit OCD about cleaning is this where your phobia has come from?

I agree with the other posters who have said to move out and live in your own chemical free zone. You are working so there is no barrier to affording it.

Have you actually told your Mum you think she doesn't love you? What was her reply?

    Have you thought about Hypnotherapy?
  • OP - Do you want to get better? Yes/No

If yes, then what your mother is doing will help. If no, then you may as well leave home and give her a break.

Have you spoken to your GP?

Reported - this is a troll/stalker - jacques chirac has never given mental health advice on the board - I believe JC is being targetted because s/he has calmly admitted that s/he is bi-polar.

It's summer holiday time, the (biggish) brats are bored .........

OP how do you get out and about? Whenever I am on a bus/at work/at the shop I come into contact with various perfumes, aftershaves, air fresheners etc. Yes these things aren't natural but they are used everyday in this modern world.

Look at some of the horrors that are happening in the planet right now, how can you think that the woman who brought you up and is giving you a roof over your head doesn't love you? Because she sprays some perfume?

And stop referring to yourself as a child, you are an adult and have to take responsibility for yourself.

If you are a troll then thanks, tis been an entertaining read. If youre for real, get back to your GP asap

There are instances on this thread of her giving mental health advice.

She's telling someone how to cure their phobia, using terms like exposure etc. That is mental health advice.

Not to mention being condescending towards somebody who is vulnerable and talking about suicide. Jax's is the troll on this thread.

    No she is not.

what is it with trolls atm?
