Almost there! I have been paid now but am hoping to stretch out last remaining pennies til at least Friday :)

    £5/£5 charity
    £11.49/£10 airport/plane
    £149.46/£150 holiday currency
    £40.68/£40 petrol
    £15/£10 work expenses
    £12.50/£15 beauty
    £27.82/£30 food
    £40/£50 entertainment/nights out

Not sure if I count my holiday as SFD's as I took the money out before I went but that's probably cheating!

Good luck everyone, not long to go!

Really looking forward to knocking another chunk off of the debt!!

Hope everyone had SPLENDID bank holiday weekend's- whatever you were up to?!

I went to a local festival, which was freeeeee, other half took me away for the Saturday eve which was jubbley, went to the beach Sunday and to a lil country pub where my friend bought my drink as a belated Birthday gift (and also drove us to beach and pub), and then bank holiday Monday other half cooked for me and we watched a couple of movies and schnuggled. So 2 more SFD's bagged over the BHW. Today was also a spend free day as well! :T

My total is now: 14/20 SFD's (Will be happy with 15!)

Looking forward to the September challenge! No doubt I will be counting sleeps the day after this Payday until the next!

    Evening all.

Quick check in here. I got paid today, £70 more than expected and DH gets paid tomo and is getting £20 more than I'd planned. So winner on both fronts!

Been doing Sept budgets as its a tough month with lots of big expenses (£700) and loooooads of driving, so the petrol budget is huge, 4x this months! But better to be organised and budget.

Hopefully should have more incomings in Sept from my new 2nd job and also our tenants rent falls in the middle of the month so I've not included it and plan to put it straight on CCs.

Anyway, this month has been good for budgeting etc. Thanks to Kat. Looking forward to next months!

SFDs 13/20. Estimated total for the end of the month 17. Woot!

Oh dear oh dear (hangs head in shame!) blown all my budget this weekend!!! My friends daughter and her baby came to stay and I wanted her to have a good time - I went to do a top up shop and ended up spending £78!!!! I think there was £37 of my budgeted £200 left so overspent on food budget by £41! that wouldn't be too bad but I had the guy laying the laminate on Sat in the bedrooms so I was really busy I still had lots to do to get DS bedroom usable by teatime so ended up with a take away for everyone! another £25!!! Things got even worse -I have really struggled to get all my kids together this holidays so when I had them all together on Sunday I took them out for tea - My dd1 brought a friend with her so 6 of us in total - the bill came to £69!!!
To top it all I even managed to blow the fuel budget - I borrowed my exs car for the weekend as I had the baby and pram and it doesn't fit in my car - I had enough fuel in my car to do me for the rest of the month but I ended up having to put £20 in his car!

On the plus side I still haven't bought any beauty stuff at all - I have made 5 NSD's which is more than I would normally have had if not doing this challenge and I am being more careful generally about spending (this weekend apart!) It is payday today so need to do next months budgets and see if I can be a little more restrained - I do have my car insurance due in Sept and its my friends 40th and we are doing a 1 night spa break which I need to budget for!

This weekend I need buy food for my mum's 70th meal but apart from that should be able to survive on what's in the house! So I might be able to get a couple more sfd's before the end of the month!
  • A very quick good morning... I need to get onto planning September...WHOOP! :T:T:T

  • Hi all,

Sorry I've not checked in. Still counting down the days until payday and a new challenge. I've managed a couple of sfd's over the weekend, and a fabulous (yet frugal) night out with a friend.

DH got paid yesterday so me and the kids went out and bought the last few bits needed for school. I ended up buying more t-shirts for ds as I just could not find the ones I'd already bought (an extra £3.50), but I think I'm finally ready for them both to go off to school now. Not sure how ready I am to go back though - starting to stress a bit, but I'm sure I'll be fine once I actually get there.

Today will be a low spend day. Catching up with a friend who I've not seen for ages, so I'm looking forward to that.

    Hello all!

Stayed in at lunchtime as I was too hungry to wander around town. I'd have only ended up buying carp to eat. Instead, I stayed in, read on my kindle app and had my leftovers lunch = SFD :j

Got £100 Sainsbug voucher in the post today for swapping tv/broadband etc. :D Just waiting for the £140 cashback now.
ETA: just got email informing me a £5 love 2shop voucher is in the post as reward for a recent survey :D

Ok Check-in for me, I have been awol recently just did 6 nights over the last 7 nights, 3 on, 1 night off another 3 on, in short I have been working and sleeping. I am back in work tonight.

The rotas were done last Friday and I got my extra shifts that I needed. I have 9 extra shifts in total when I only needed 8 to make darn sure my loan is paid off using my November pay. It works out that during the Sept-Oct pay period I only have 1 extra shift, so there is still opportunity to pick up more.

I cannot wait until I pay my loan off and I can significantly reduce the amount of extra shifts I have to do, roll on November pay day.

A colleague at work is 51 her husband is 59 and their mortgage is shortly to be paid off and she was considering dropping her contracted hours, it makes me feel less guilty about doing less extras (everyone goes on about being there for the patients, but we also need paying as well). The only way I can do so many extras is because they need covering. If we had a fully staffed night rota I wouldn't be able to do the shifts in the first place, I'd still be debt-busting it would just take longer.

I have totally blown my food budget, I don't know how, just bad planning I guess. I did a reasonable shop yesterday which means that on Friday pay day I don't actually have to do a food shop so technically, yesterday's shop was from next month's budget.

Regarding the misc budget I have spent £65.44, this includes washing, slow cooker, prescription, mobile top-up, and some writing I had to renew copyright on (completely forgot about it, but got a £3 discount for renewing online).

I got my repeat prescription over the counter so only cost £4.14 instead of £7.85, a saving of £3.71.

I got my 1.5 ltr slow cooker, it's enough for 1 person. I can see that I could fill it and easily eat out of it for 3 days in a row, so potential savings there. Thank goodness I didn't get the 3.5 ltr! in researching cook books there is a lot of prep that goes into slow cooking, fry this, brown that, mix this in, boil that, all before you can throw it in the pot. I have realised what I need are 1 pot cookery books, where you just literally throw everything in, cover in water, stock, and or wine and then switch to cook.

I will be browsing Amazon, oh wait I don't have any money, although I could order and pay for today and by the time it hits my CC account it would be Friday, see how I'm justifying.

Anyway for those that are still on track - keep going. For the rest of us better luck next time.
