I'm SO glad August is out the way...

Afraid I limped through on 18 SFD :o

Have done my budgets for September and because I'd already used up some of my wage to get through to the end of this month, I'm on a reduced allowance.

    Petrol £15.00 per week
    Food £25.00 per week
    Spends £5.00 per week
    Treat Fund £10.00

It's going to be *another* month of being thrifty-ish. I think like Kat - I'm going to be sticking to supermarket basics ranges whenever possible.

I've joined a 1 Debt vs 100 days challenge too - to get me fired up and am aiming to clear £2,000 by the end of November - so I'm going to have to be super strict.

Topped up my Emergency Fund to £300.00.

On the topic of Christmas - I'm pagan so I tend not to go in for anything at all... no presents or cards to buy... just a quiet reflective day to myself on the Solstice. Bliss.

See you on the other side!!!

Has anyone watched extreme cheapskates? It was on earlier so i watched 3 episodes, omg!! If u can watch it then do, it makes u realise that we're not really that tight or going without at all!

I was channel flicking and saw a clip of this, some guy in the shower with his clothes on washing them as it was money saving to do it at the same time as washing his bod?! Crazies

I'm declaring for August on 11/20 NSDs - not amazing but for a first go and not a proper budget set out at the start its OK.

I'm over prepared for September so I'm hoping for big things! See you the other side
  • This is brilliant! (Not the laptop problems).... am so chuffed that you have reduced your shopping bill - how does it feel? have you still managed to eat well - anything you don't miss. Please tell....?

It feels great Kat :) and if anything, we have had healthier meals, using fresh food with a large dose of imagination, making things we wouldn't normally try. Things I don't miss - have cut out a lot of dairy. I do miss red pepper houmous - which im totally addicted to and have stopped buying. I am now on SFD 21 :T Woo hoo!!
    Total debt - £16,687.86 approx. - Paid so far - £13,156.30 - £350. a month to DMP - DFD 17/01/2019 But I WILL make it sooner!!
  • So last day of the month went well.

DD1 had her haircut this morning and then this afternoon we went to a local nature reserve ~ it was lovely and quiet and we saw loads of birds including a hawk and a heron.

Did better than I thought I would this month (with it being summer hols) but I really want to tighten my belt from now on ~ I want to clear these debts and build some savings ~ am feeling very determined now!

See you on the new thread! :D
  • Oh good grief it's nearly September...

    It is now September!

I started doing an update last night, but didn't get around to posting it! I'm now on the first of 4 night duties.

I was going to be ending the month by FINALLY selling some wheels we have. A chap came to look at them, but sadly it appears I was misinformed and they're mere replicas so not worth the money we were after and not worth him buying them to refurbish and sell on. So we have dropped the price by half and have an offer- will accept this if no other offers come through. Bit sad really as I was made up when this guy offered and then came the next day. Oh well. We will get something for them!

I did all my budget totals in my last post, so it's just my total SFDs to give tally of for this month... and they are.... 16 SFDs :D

See you all on the next thread. Thanks to Kat. Well done everyone and good luck in September.
