  • Oh my word...
    After the day from HELL,

    Woke up feeling shattered
    Kids playing up
An hour on hold to tax credits helpline
Not being able to book the kids birthday party where they want it

You get the idea... I have had a wonderful piece of news.
My name only came out in a prize draw and I have won an iPad mini :D:D:D:D:D
I can't believe it. I've double, triple checked and it's no strings attached - just me genuinely winning something.
Part of me is already saying I should sell it but I've wanted an iPad for years. And now I have one (or soon I will), and I really do want to hang onto it.

Well done everyone with the 20 NSDs, and congrats on the iPad wannabe!

I've on 11/20 so far, I'm happy with that as my first go at the challenge but hopefully I can make it to 13/20.

Pay day today so I took my money out in prep for September and am currently putting it into its envelopes, also in prep for Kat's challenge I've done a full food inventory and am working out my meal plan for apparently the next month as I found 11 preprepared meals I've obviously made and frozen!! Wish me luck

    Evening everyone!!!

Am well impressed with all the 20 SFDs rolling in! I will make mine on Saturday as bought a pair of towels to use at the gym as been meaning to get something like this for ages - only a few quid each, and it means one spend less for September.

    Night all!!

PS. Loving September's rules and regulations Kat!!!

    :)

    Good morning everyone.

I haven't really kept up with the thread as I've been so busy with little one & DS. Hopefully now she is sleeping through so will feel better.

I'm rearing to go for September as we've had a bad August. I'm hoping to earn some extra money as I've signed up to distribute a well known catalogue in our area. It's worth a shot and it'll fit round DS's preschool hours.

Done a meal plan for the month and trying to make sure I cover lunches and breakfast for the month too. My plan is to shop for as much as possible today/tomorrow and then I'll only need small top ups during the month.

Everybody's done so well this month considering the kids have been off. Wannabee congratulations on winning the ipad, it's nice to get a treat once in a while. Also, do you have a local tax drop in centre? We have one in our info centre open part time & I went on the off chance to ask about tax credits. They said I could ring the office from there and they've got a direct line so I wasn't on hold at all. Also saved me a costly phone call.

  • Morning all :D

    Payday :j:j:j

I am so relieved. I've put my budgets and plans down ready for September and am raring to go as you can see.
Today is the last day just me and the kids. I have a doctors appointment soon to get the ok to go back to work, but then I've told the kids they can each choose something to do as long as it doesn't cost the earth.

Thanks all, for the kind words about the iPad - I will hang onto it. And thanks too for the advice about tax credits Mrs Toast. I am almost hoping now I get the 'you're not entitled to anything' letter so I don't have to bother with them any more.

So today will be a spend day before I knuckle down ready for the month ahead of clean and healthy living.

    Have a good day all.

Payday today and even got £49 more, not sure why though? Although a few of you mentioned similar pay increases?

Put £250 in the rainy day fund and kept money aside (£390) for the retaining wall we probably get built this month (neighbour as a homer, cheaper than any other option we thought off). What I don't need from that will also go to the savings or the christmas fund so I don't need to take money out of the savings. Will do a shop on Saturday (from Sept budget) but will make a thorough list first tonight when hubby is out and DS in bed.

Defrosting a pork leg joint (was on offer in LIDL the other week) and will put that in the slowcooker on Saturday to feed us the weekend and after.

Shouldn't have any big social events but will double check the calendar tonight. We'll go to a flower and food festival next weekend but the tickets are paid for. Family will come round ours afterwards so need to speak to hubby if it's for food or just drinks etc and plan my shop accordingly.

EDIT: noticed they put me up a spinal point on the pay scale (hence more money) but I better investigate as it's not even the anniversary of my start date or anything.
