Yesterday was another sfd, should really pop out to get milk and bread but I just can't be bothered ~ hoping hubby will pick some up on his way home if I ask nicely?!
Feeling nervous about September ~ DS1 is returning to college (as long as he enrols tomorrow of course?!). As he's at a different campus it will now cost £27 a week just in train fares ~ not entirely sure where I'll find that money from but guess I'm going to have to get creative
Right better go feed the monkeys ~ they're getting noisy!!0 -

Must improve SFD's in order to be ready for the unspoken festive season.
I'm the same Gretchen, really spent too much over BH weekend (although we had such a good family weekend that I don't mind too much) and now have had to rejig my whole September budget to make up for it. Also got paid on 23rd (as opposed to 28th) so wages now have to last an extra 5 days (because I decided it was fate meaning we could enjoy our BH!).
All DSs Christmas and BDay presents (for January) already purchased so really it's just OH, mum and dad (od and Secret Santa) that I need to buy for, and planning to save Amazon vouchers (already got £43) for those gifts.
Bought some food today and want to weigh myself (£1) at the gym but will try for a SFD tomorrow. Will probably be the last one of the month, making 10, as mum and dad are here this Thursday then I have a wedding Friday/Saturday. Not great but not terrible either I don't suppose. I have a £5 McDonalds voucher from a genuine complaint and a free frappe voucher on their app so will use those this weekend when in town.
Need to do the storecupboard challenge here as well, new kitchen being fitted in January and I can't be bothered storing loads of out of date food!
Will definitely be back in September. NSK - a question - I have saved £100 spends for our week in Butlins in September - when I spend that cash, do I count it as a spend day?My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

HI all,
Another SFD here! Must confess though I spent £3 on soft drinks yesterday as it was just so warm and I wanted something more exciting than water or cordial:o
I will have to be a part time cheerleader in September as I'll only be around for 2 weeks as we're finally going away on the holiday we booked 16 months ago :j
The "Christmas" word doesn't scare me. I've already bought a few pressies in the January sales (well mum always wants the same gift set from B00ts so why not buy it when it's half price in January?) and I already have £70 in my consumer pulse account which I can convert into high street vouchers. The way this year is flying by, it'll be here before we know it!0 -

Andrar I have moved 9 times in the last 13 years. Or is it 10 times. Beat that? Longest time was 3 years in one place. I hate relying on other people for a roof over my head - one flatmate who had her mother in England decided to go home to "save more money" - realised when she got there that she hated her mother so came back to London wanting to move in together again - not realising that I had to uproot myself entirely and find somewhere else, move, resettle etc . I told her to do one. Hope you find somewhere soon - so fingers crossed all round I think....
I can! This will be my 10th move in 9 years!!
I'm not a horrible housemate though, its just circumstance and the fact there are no jobs up north so I'm gradually working my way south for work.
Bring on September!0 -
Just got a wake up call. Just realised September will be my 11th month on this challenge. Thought I would achieve so much more but hey, at least no more debt and we could pay for quite a few things without worrying too much where we get the money from. But better use my approaching anniversary as motivation.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Hello all - back with the flow post BH weekend. Fairly quiet, worked a bit, went to a Golden wedding party - 50 years!! Makes our 11 years seem low key!! Walked 4 miles yesterday on Dartmoor - felt much further than that due to a couple of steep climbs and five small children! My two did fantastically and walked 90% of it at least!
Anyway - a couple of sfds added to the total - nearly time to start September!!
No house news - just going to carry on working and see what happens. Off to France in 3 days - need to work 25 hours by the end of Thursday - if anyone wants me Ill be at the grindstone....
Love to all

OH gets paid tomorrow. Thank God that's all I can say! this month has been so rubbish. We've had so much to pay out for that was unexpected that we are left with 76p in the bank. Looked at his wage slip and his pay rise came in! woohoo! so around £50 a month better off now.
I'm going to look at some "on the cheap" recipes for dinners and use up the food we have in the cupboards. DD starts school on the 11th so that will help on food intake. She's a monkey for asking for snacks and food in the day so will save money. I've got family here for christmas this year so need to save some for that and for presents too! Got to do a carboot asap and get rid of some of DD's toys she no longer plays with before we can fit more in!!
looking forward to septembers challenge too!x
Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

LittleSkintDragon I didn't realise that your maternity had started. I am glad you are enjoying the challenge - how may are in your household so far - 2 adults and 1 little one plus baby or is this your first Dragonette? Do you have a seperate budget for nappies etc .. I am intrigued as to how people manage a new little one when budgetting.. spill the beans...
Yep, my maternity started two weeks ago today, but i havent stopped long enough to think about it yet. At the moment we are 2 adults, 1 nearly 8 year old dd, 1 doggy, and two !!!!! cats! Nemo passed way!
My plan is - to use my maternity leave wisely planning, making, growing?? And batch making, this should mean that i can keep the same budget as i'm being more frugal with the money i've got. I plan to breast feed if i can, mainly because its free and i'm tight, and hopefully nappies will balance out with the money i'm saving. That's my plan anyway!! I'm having a very big drop in pay for 7 months so it will be very hard, but we'll just have to plod along, and anything i can do to reduce debt along the way i shall be doing.
Sorry to mention the c word again but i have started my shopping, when i see things i get them. I dont shop in december, all those people rushing scares the life out of me, and with a newborn in tow it'll be even less pleasant!! So far i have gifts for my nan (xmas and bday), cousin, friends two children (xmas and birthdays),dd's birthday and a few xmas bits, nephew, and have three pressies here for some lucky person that i bought last year and didnt get around to giving.
I was thinking about placing an order online with the b00k club , there are some lovely things on there that would cost a fortune full price, and cross a few people off my list!
just noticed how my cats have been edited above!! LolStill here..... but working on that!0 -
