    Hi all,

    Surfacing again for air :)

    Nearly limped to the end of the 5 week month, midnight on Tuesday is the finish line :T

    Petrol = 160/160

    Food = 150/150

    Entertainment = 250/250

    Payday on Wednesday and we've enough food but gonna have to find some petrol money from somewhere, £30 should do it.

    Went out on Wednesday to spend the last of the entertainment budget and had a great time, got home slightly squiffy and fell asleep and everything was right with the world........woke up the next day to facebook messages from a couple we know accepting our generous invitation to come and spend Bank Holiday Sunday/Monday with us and come and see a friends band!!

    What on earth were we thinking :eek: How are we going to afford this, oohhh hell why do I drink so much!!

    On a plus note the OH has called Sky and asked them why they charge us £58 a month, after a bit of one sided conversation they have dropped it to £35 for the next 12 months! That was the last little tweek to be totally MSE on everything (except the 2 loans which have an interest penalty if we repay early)

    Abundant....

    Know exactly where your coming from, this month I've eaten two month old yoghurt, salad dressing more than 12 months out of date (not together :rotfl:) and the other half has finally finished off 12 month out of date smash :)

    Fingers crossed for a cheap Sunday and some miracle which makes next wednedsday arrive before this sunday ;)

    Happy MSE'ing everyone

    Morning all...

    Well I used up my treat fund (it is nearly the end of the month) and still have 63p of my budget to spend!!! Whoopee!!!

    I checked last night and had still not been paid... my official pay date is 27th which would be early hours of Tuesday... I thought with the BH we might get paid early... <sigh> :(Then... Just checked my balance this morning... and guess what... I have been paid!!! HOORAH!!! :D

    I also got those immortal words in my email from the National Lottery... 'we have good news about your ticket...' I am now £2.50 better off! I shan't be retiring just yet... but thank you universe anyway!!!

    So... this means I have a morning planning out my budget - something I always love doing!!! Good times!!!

    Wannabe a question - why did you take in two more cats? Are you cat-sitting, fostering etc and how long do you have them for?

    I'm fostering them for a rescue charity - they are overrun with unwanted cats. And they cost nothing in terms of vets/flea treatment/worms etc as it's all covered by the charity. They'll be with us until they go to a new home. The only expense is food and litter, and I can get that from the charity too if I need to.

    The vet bill this month was down to one of our own cats hurting his leg. Nothing I can do about that - one of the responsibilities of being a pet owner. We took that on when we got our own cats. :)

    As for the car - I have to keep it on the road to get me to work and the kids to school. The bus would require that the 3 of us left the house at 6am, and we'd get home about 7pm, and probably cost more for the 3 of us daily than I spend on petrol.

    August has just been an expensive month for me unfortunately...

    I can't do much in the way of spending over the next week because I have no money left :eek:

    Today should be a sfd... it almost has to be. Taking the kids to see me mum, and get us all fed :D

    Me and the kids have meal planned for the whole of next week, which should see us through until the end of the hols without spending much.

    I'm not too worried about store cupboard challenges abundant, I just cleared and inventoried ours last week so I know there's nothing too horrific in there. I've already fed the worst of it to DH (and he didn't have a clue, lolol).

    We need no more food for us or the cats, the car has enough petrol in it to last - so it's head down and get on with a final frugal week.

  • Awwwwww Wannabe the amount of times I see shows about abandoned or abused kitty cats I cry. RSPCA rescue Australia was in the other day and a puddy tat was taped down and set on fire but survived.. I nearly choked. I'm scared I'll end up some batty old cat lady in a few years!..:-((..well done you for doing that!!! I often wonder how Dorothy would respond to a kitten.

    Anyway.. Enough cat talk. The boys now know what's its like when we have to listen to footy talk! Lol!!

    I'm off to church so will check in later at work. Full weekend of overtime ahead so will be heading to bed around 1600...**think of the money think of the money**.. Seriously looking forward to next Saturday night when I'm actually off for the first day in 22 days.. Lol!

    I made more chilli beans last night. Using up my cupboard...:-))

  • Hola!

    I think today may be a sfd however i shall not declare until mr.t is closed, as dh has family down for the weekend, which is usually alcohol based!
    May be different this time though with only two weeks until baby dh is strictly on the soft drinks, and i will most definately not be paying for alcohol i cant drink!!

    Pay day yesterday, and budget re worked after a lousy month commission wise! Have taken £40 off petrol budget as i'm not working now as maternity has started, but tbh we were £80 under budget last month as dh's boss bought him diesel!! And i filled my car yesterday with a 5p off per litre at mr.T, and wont be driving many places with a brand new baby :)

    Also got dh to bring goodies home from work to feed baby visitors when they come :money:

    Have a lovely weekend everyone!!
    Still here..... but working on that!
  • Hey everyone

  • SFD as I had hoped it would be. My mum does a very good lunch. :D

    I'm in a grump for some reason, headache niggling - and desperately waiting for this time tomorrow when I'll be on my first night out for about 3 months.

    I did it! :) I've spent £53 on grocery shopping and after a mammoth cooking session this afternoon, I have made 16 main meals and 5 lunches for myself. I have enough bread to make sandwiches for us for the rest of the time and enough food for the cats too :) £7 left in my purse to last me 2.5wks.
