August's Almighty Advance

August has been an horrific month for me - I thought July had been tough, but I've had SO much extra expense this month that I'm finding it hard to make ends meet. My payday is next Friday - and it's my first wedding anniversary next Saturday so we'll be going out no doubt. I booked mum to babysit months ago.
Good news is that both car and cat seem well after sapping almost £400 from me this month. Car still needs petrol.
I've lost track of my budgets and sfds. I just know that the only target I will make this month is the petrol target. However, I'm not leaving it until Sept to start again. I have the money in my purse (£23) until Tuesday (child benefit day), and I have a night out Sunday as well. Thankfully my friend owes me for the ticket for Sunday so I'll have £20 to spend.
The spending diary is out again and I'm determined to keep it this time. I've got 1 week of hols left and I'm not going sick again so back to work for me on Sept 2.
Of course, it's both my kids birthdays in September (grrr)... so more expense to come.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -

Oh I've been a bit rubbish at posting.... sorry!! (hangs head in shame!!)
Pay day today, but did very well last month with over £500 left as budgeted!!
Did very well last month, got rid of 2 overdrafts, cancelled one, and paid over £300 off the last cc. Kept the one od as ive just started maternity leave and am a bit worried about how we'll cope on statutory maternity pay
Need to work on this months budget and see how much I can throw at the cc!
Havent had any sfd's but not been extravagant either, just bought things in small bits. Oh and I got £80 worth of t3sc0 shopping for £50 (My budget!) , felt like a crazy coupon lady..... only went there because i had vouchers!!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Oh no! All the confessions are coming out now. Wannabe a question - why did you take in two more cats? Are you cat-sitting, fostering etc and how long do you have them for? Abundant - what have you done? Munchin - how much OT and are you going to be a lose like me and work the entire weekend AND Monday..?
I have eaten too much for breakfast.. and I feel sick.. Come on though Abundant I need to know what you have done...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. My sister has just been round to meet the foster cats as well. It's no secret at all now that I really want to keep the mum cat. She's beautiful, so laidback and placid. We all want to keep her, however, our female cat is nowhere near ready to tolerate her. Our male cat (the poorly one) is fine with both foster cats now but there doesn't seem to be any progress with the female. I know it's still early days but not sure what else I can try with them. The foster cats are getting a bit bored now being stuck in one room.
My female cat still hisses at little Harley despite having him also 3 months now. She also hisses at Blackie who was here before she was. They just seem to shrug their shoulders at her these days.
I wonder if the foster mum is considered a "threat". Has she been neutered? I know my old lads "hated" Scrappy for the few months when we got him but as soon as we had him done, they got on with him fine. Cats are funny creatures.abundant1972 wrote: »OMG...

Spill the beans then!
I don't want to turn this thread into the poorly cat thread but it looks like Scrappy's holiday to grandma's hasn't alleviated his stress related over grooming so I think we're going to have to take him to the vets for some more chill pills as nothing else has worked. An expense I was hoping to avoid

Oops! I bought some cat litter as we needed some soon and were passing by PAH. Then I bought a restaurant voucher from travel zoo as a treat for us when we have the post holiday blues in October.
This now leaves me with £61.28 to feed and entertain us for 2.5 weeks:eek:0 -

Ha Ha!!!
I reminded Kat about the 'clearing out the cupboard rule' from previous threads... Then she seemed to forget again... but now I've had to explain myself to everyone else and she will have re-remembered it!!!
In true Scooby Doo fashion...
"We could have got away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids!"
Now we'll all be condemned to eating out our stale oatcakes and using up tinned goods, spices and packet mixes that are lurking at the back of our cupboards that expired in the 1980s before we're allowed to buy anything new!!!
NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo
