Daily check in for me - I got a yellow sticker shop today - does that count as a SFD?
Otherwise I took a packed lunch to work and wasn't tempted by the shops, so a bit of a triumph for me
    Trying to keep in budget.

    Good Afternoon Triple-Aers!

Sorry another check in from me...My Deposit cheque arrived and has been paid in. So Today, along with my MOtea saving I have cleared £600 of my debt!! :T

:j Another debt bites the dust!! :j

1 more to go@ £1800. So that's £450/month out of the next 4 pays/ money making/saving schemes to bring me to a DFD before Christmas! Excited much- it's nice to finally get some momentum after a move, mot and car insurance filled couple of months!

Moneymash - Not to worry! I love a good read so I had to track it down! Thanks for pointing us in the right direction!

Jonesy88 - I can't get that song out of my head!!! ....Sneaks onto youtube... :)

giggal- Yes, such a relief. MOT's always feel like a surprise- you're never sure if it will be a nice or a nasty one! Congrats on passing your test recently!! Such a great feeling to finally get that lil ol' license, and getting your own car! I still drive a little old banger around, but for some reason I am quite attached to her- may be it's the adventures and breakdowns we have shared... :) Cars really are a money pit at times- you do tend to have your hand in your pocket a lot with them- I try to keep an emergency fund/ car fund for unexpected payouts. However, they do give you a little more freedom and open opportunities for work prospects!

Happybeingme - I know exactly what you mean! As soon as i'm in that mood I come straight onto here and immerse myself in debt busting/ money saving or I go through my spreadsheet (geek)- this tends to make me feel guilty about spending and I gradually shut down the windows of temptation (e.g. eb@y/ am@zon). It's hard when you're not feeling up to doing much, as alternatively getting out and about (away from shops) helps me. I find gardening to be a really good distraction and brain calmer or making/ baking/ crafting something for a present for somebody also helps. Hope your spending resistance keeps up!

    Hello beckyboo1980! Welcome back!

I'm really impressed with all of the SFD's/ Low SFD's, Goals and new diaries popping up on here! You guys are so motivating- So Thank you!!

Thanks so much for the advice Loveadove. I figured out why I was feeling that way ~ I was due to see a friend today but she had to cancel a few days ago so that's why I was at a loose end. You're absolutely right ~ what I should of done instead of 'window shopping on the laptop' was something constructive. I could of done some reading, cross-stitch or knitting. I really wasn't feeling up to baking today but I do love making things. I think I just need to focus my energies elsewhere instead of spending money I don't have. Anyway I managed to tear myself away and it was a SFD after all :D

Oh and congrats for clearing a lump sum off the debt!!

Dan is must be hard managing to live between two properties but am glad you are currently living rent free. I am glad you managed to get rid of one debt (did I read that right ) even if you are low on funds now. It's nice to chalk one off the list! So well done!

Matt embrace your girlfriends cooking and baking. Compliment her regularly and she won't give up if something goes a little wrong..:rotfl:..Great to have home made goodies though! Is she generally on board with this money-saving or is it just you?

Thanks alot, is always a relieve, thankfully as stated when CC was paid off, it is now under lock and key for absolute emergencies only. No way I want to build that up again.

You can not beat homemade cooking how ever good or bad, its about the effort you put in to create something special.

Sadly today was a spend day as needed to purchase a new cheap phone (£19), unlocked from T*sco's so that I can contact my girlfriend abroad for 1p a minute, can't complain at them rates.

Also, food purchase's (£22.02) to get me through the next 2 weeks off hard work in my new home so little snacks here and there with packed lunches. This was done by following someones advice to go store own brands rather than the what you know brands, so this was much cheaper than it could have been as I'd imagine it would normally have cost £30 - £35 easily and you can never complain when 2 for 1 on cans of fizzy drink for the quick burst of needed energy :)

Would love to go spend something at the market for a whole months supplies of fruit, veg and meats but that will wait til another day. Would be in the region of about £60 for an absolute ton of goodies.

I am hoping to have tomorrow as a NSD but let's wait and see and I really believe it is possible if you plan wisely, which sadly I have not done properly but will aim for starting tomorrow.

Hoping and looking forward to a new day :)

  • Evening all, Giggal I would happily trade "precious" for middle earth. You did make me smile though! To be honest being so far away from where I can do anything is a bit of a challenge - Im not good at sitting back!!

Anyway today not a sfd - my brother is being sent offshore on friday and on a course tomorrow so although we are here for another 8 days today was the last time we will see him. We did cinema, bowling and tea out. I paid for the bowling so it wasn't horrific and we all had a good day together which was lovely. Tomorrow will be a sfd and I plan to work many hours to make up for today off!

Need to go to sleep earlier tonight - have been reading Sarahs Key - emotionally draining but a good read!!

    Anyway - work to do

    Love to all,
    LAGL xx

Danl31 I am overpaying my loan, what calculator did you use, if not an mse one could you post the link.

I hadn't saved the link which means that I think it was a MSE one, but if you need you can always find one on here which tells you roughly the savings to be had.

    Evening everyone!!!

Nice to see you back Beckyboo and good to catch up on what's been happening in your life. Good news about your hubby getting that job too!!!

Ended up being a spend day <slap> and spend some dosh on sweets for friends <slap> and bought fish and chips <slap> All came out my spends budget though.

I had run out of fruit and wanted to take some away with me at weekend, along with some milk and other bits and pieces. Am going to have to have a thrifty week or two for sure. Got some bargains - £2 for 5 skinless chicken fillets (bought 3 bags for freezer). I cooked up a bag, and can take for lunch at work and super healthy etc.

Feeling stuffed and over sugared!!! If only I could remember this feeling next time I get the urge to buy cr*p food lol.

    Have a nice evening folks!!!

    :)
